While lazing at the beach last Sunday, I inadvertently came across the best "lazing at the beach, having a few drinks, smoking a little ***" CD and it is... Neil Young Decade. I can't wait for this to be done right! I was listening on a boom box so everything sounded fine, but what a great compilation, especially going from the early stuff to Buffalo Springfield to solo to CSNY. It just made my day...

    Hi Paul,
I have loved that album since I first bought it 25 (yikes) years ago. Never heard it on the beach though. I'll have to try it one day. I'm sure it would be fantastic.
I can only guess at what you were smoking (3 letters hmmmm). You could be a candidate for "if you remember the 80's, you weren't really there".

Hmmm I thought it would be surfing music. Or Beach Boys.

    Nothing wrong with Decade, though!

When I had my convertable, Surfing music was the best stuff to play! :) Speed limit? We don't need no stinking speed limit! :D

My current favorite is a Beach Boys comp I made just a little bit ago, and I like my Beach Boys melancholy, and very light on the oldie surf tunes...

When I saw your reference to CSNY I thought no that's not right, there are no CSNY tracks on Decade. But of course there is. Helpless is on there. Then I played it and you know what it sounded really nice. Then for comparison I dug out my Joe Gatwirst Deja Vu and played Helpless. Didn't compare.

I love to crank up the Ramones when I'm on the sand, especially when Rockaway Beach comes on - that spot where everything drops out for a second, then the bass drum kicks on through is bliss...
