Or ' After Geography ' , Ringo ' s apparent title as a piss take on the Rolling Stones ' ' Aftermath '.
My Avatar EMI Hayes middlesex record plant. Checking Rubber Soul on a Garrard 301, anybody familiar with the tonearm?
Such a pity we force you into commenting on every Beatles thread isn't it, making you comment how boring you find them. If only you could avoid these threads but sadly we don't allow you. Tragic. Tragic.
The Beatles were a big part of my childhood, and I feel that I have the right to comment on them. If I occasionally challenge the dominant view and don't subscribe to Beatles groupthink, you are welcome to place me on your ignore list.
You may feel happier spending your time constructively rather than commenting on things you don't feel you have to 'challenge the groupthink' on.
I am happy talking about things that I've had experience with. The internet is a dangerous place. You may encounter an opinion that you don't agree with.
Don't forget to tell us yet again how much you like the Ken Thorne soundtrack stuff on the US Help! album, someone might have missed that point today.
Well, you could have remembered the other Beatles thread you started about rating the Beatles albums. Literally the same thing, isn't it? Rating" The Beatles" albums?
The White Album and Abbey Road tied. They are by far the best Beatles albums. The rest of the albums sound old and like they were intended to be heard in mono.
No. The majority of 60’s music was recorded for mono and in poor stereo. Fortunately, The White Album and Abbey Road were recorded well in stereo.
US... Rubber Soul (1965)...exploring contingency & infidelity along with other mature subject matter & recreating pop music from the inside out the band crafted their best record... It was also the only time a Capitol butcher job worked, finally the US version is what I grew up with during the 60s, so obviously nostalgia also plays a part in my preference UK... AHDN (1964)...all originals, side 1 was the soundtrack stuff but side 2 was precise, deadly & mature with songs I'll Be Back & Things We Said Today the standouts, proof also that the loveable moptops were smart Recorded during the zenith of Beatle Mania craziness only adds to its brilliance... Like all stateside kids I started with the US version & IIRC graduated to the UK after hearing it at a friends in early 66
Well, one thing's for sure - it is absolutely NOT the overrated Revolver! I'd say Rubber Soul, Sgt Pepper, The Beatles or Abbey Road.
It's a different one every month! I love the flawless pop of Rubber Soul, the Merseybeat energy of A Hard Day's Night, the cool hard edge of Revolver, the messy glory that is The White Album and the wisdom and grace of Abbey Road.... And the other ones are great too!
The Beatles (2 LP), A Hard Day's Night, Magical Mystery Tour, Rubber Soul, Beatles for Sale Those resonate the most with me these days, in that order.
