A recent thread here on The Verve prompted me to revisit their catalogue and wow...I was always a fan but they were in another league. Overall it was an amazing decade for British rock event if many of these excellent bands couldn’t penetrate the grunge saturated States.

Sound off in the comments and let me know who I overlooked (I kept the list to a concise 20).

In all seriousness (though I do love The Sundays' music), I'd nominate Saint Etienne as the best of the 90s.

Well, The Stone Roses are the British band I like the most after The Beatles, so they tower over everyone else for me.

However, since they released one single in 1990 and one album in 1994, and that's it for the decade, they can't really be the answer.

So, of the people on your list I think I'd have to nominate Oasis (for commercial impact) and Radiohead (for artistic impact and influence on other artists).
