Best Buy deal in store

A forum member has very generously gone out and picked up an extra copy for me.

I wonder if The Cosmos Rocks jumped up the Billboard charts again since this sales spike for them.LOL,

Oh yeah. I wanted to mention. The Queen Cosmos Rocks Box Set I grabbed had an Elton John LP where the Sheer Heart Attack LP should of been. How weird is that? I haven't gotten around to returning it yet...

Thanks to the tips on here, I found the HELP! box set for 99¢! Woo! The box was a bit beat up and discolored... it had obviously been sitting on a Best Buy shelf for at least a decade. But I've never seen the movie before, and was thrilled to find it for so cheap. The cashier was stunned.

 

Found a Queen box in San Antonio.

Also nabbed an Extreme "Boston 2009" 2 cd live set and Stereolab's "Serene Velocity" for 99 cents apiece.

Went to a Best Buy here in Denver and the sales clerk told me someone came in a few days before and bought a "bunch" of Queen Cosmos Rocks box sets . . . I only wanted one.

 

I might be making a Best Buy trip now.

A Best Buy near me had one of these Clearance bins about a month ago but it has disappeared. I'm guessing they just sold everything, especially when it hit 99 cents.

But more troubling, ALL of their box sets have disappeared, including the full priced ones. I was planning to get the Paul Simon Graceland set (originally 99.99) when it eventually hit clearance, but now every box set in the store is gone. Is it possible that they put all of these on clearance and I just missed out?

Oh, and if anyone has one of those Depeche Mode sets they'd be willing to part with, please let me know. My store hasn't had those since around the time of release.

 

It's very possible that Best Buy is shuffling expensive box sets to stores with more sales in your area. I've noticed what has recently happened is that key locations within a metropolitan area will retain or keep a larger media section, while many of the stores in less affluent areas are greatly downsizing the media department.

 

Maybe they are sending them to BB outlet stores? My store had a lot of these titles in stock and shortly thereafter they were all gone.

 

The clerance bins are going away this week and the product is being sent to liquidation centers.

 

Presumably the remaining Queen box sets will join GNR Chinese Democracy and that first Chickenfoot album at Dollar Tree stores. Though, my nearest BB still has a Chickenfoot stocking cap for sale!

 

So what is a liquidation center? Is that the last stop for this stuff?

 

Can you imagine a Dollar Tree store selling the Queen Cosmo box set for a dollar?

I assume the CDs would be at the Dollar Tree.

 

I highly doubt any of the box sets will make it to the liquidation center. You'd have to be crazy to actually scan that out of the store and not buy them for a buck.

 

From what I have seen lately, there aren't many decent items left of any value in this clearance. The word has gotten out and most stores have very little left that most here would really want. I picked up a couple of CDs yesterday, but they were only left because the cases had been smashed.
