I can highly recommend doing the upgrade. It is my best kit upgrade of 2017.

  5. Last January, I got a Mcintosh C2500 pre amp and loving it. I don't get new gear often, maybe once in five years so the Mc is a real treat.

Is that a heavy stack of ****t? Does it feel substantial? I like a good...well thick heavy feeling component.

Went fully aktiv this past year with my Linn system. Bought a slightly used Linn Chakra multi channel power amp with new aktiv cards installed from my local Linn dealer. Night and day difference from my single amp.

  11. As always, I purchased a number of audio/video hardware pieces in 2017. Right now I would say the Massdrop HiFiMAN HE4XX Planar Magnetic Headphones are my favorite acquisition this past year.

    1) Moved from a Devialet 220 Pro to the McIntosh C47/MC301s combo.
    2) Added the Resonessence Mirus Pro DAC

    Catcher10 I like records, and Prog...duh

Well, I had a hand in picking it out LOL........She just paid for it :)

My main desire was getting something that was shielded very well, to me that is the biggest plus of an upgraded PC, if you can keep out RF and other noises that will make room for just music to come thru, very similar to phono cables. This cable was not much more than a cable from a lesser to never heard of cable company, and the Analysis + reputation certainly helps.

Like they say, "hearing is believing."

    Cheers

My best piece of 2017 has to be my iPhono2. I think it's really allowed other elements of my system to shine, and hopefully will for a long time.

Border Patrol DAC SE; WTL Simplex; First Watt F6; LTA MZ2. Probably the last item was my favorite.

I would love to have one of those. Not just tubes but most solid state amps need time to warm up to sound best. Class D amps don't draw a lot of juice so they can be kept on, and they run cool.

  19. This year has seen a few more acquisitions than normal.
    Speakers, Tannoy XT6F
    Tone arm- Wand Plus
cartridges- Dynavector XX2, Hana SL and Audio Technica AT33 Mono
speaker cables, Tellurium -Q Black II

most satisfying has been the Wand Plus arm. The speakers have very few hours on them and I'm still unsure , a bit of love and hate in equal amounts , especially after living with my previous speakers for about 12 years.

I wanted to show the frame and somehow get my beloved pioneer in the frame. I am unashamed:)
