Best joke in the Rutles movie?

Not a joke per se, but when I watched the film for the first time and heard the lyric “...Cheese And Onions...” I never laughed so hard in my life. I still remember how much my cheeks hurt.

 

That one of my favorite jokes of all time. “We haven’t been staying away so much as not coming here.”

 

Do I have to spell it out?

I had the same reaction during the “Punk Floyd” scene when Dirk spit water at the camera. I watched that over and over again and nearly died from the strain of laughter.

And Ron Woods too.

How the whole soundtrack is ridiculously good and even improved or match actual Beatles tracks

some of the lines are just absurd but they work so well.

“Why you tinker with a tailer, summer solider to a sailor...”

It doesn't get better than that. I always imagine John roaring in laughter when he heard it and Yoko punching him in the arm.

The bit with (I think) Bianca Jagger where Eric Idle is struggling with the key and lyrics of a song he's trying to write at the Piano. She says "try D" so he starts hammering away singing "Dee Dee Dee Dee".
