Exactly, and yet the band is splitting up because of it.
Why don't you want that from other products and services you pay for?
Not that I'm hoping you will want that--I find the idea of it ridiculous/outrageous, but why does it matter to you that music you listen to might be made by someone whose actions are something you might disapprove of, but it doesn't matter to you if the people who contributed to the peanut butter you're eating, or the people working for a bus company of a bus you're taking, etc. are doing something you might disapprove of?
Can we please not derail the best thread on the forum? Thank you.
Debate over, bro.
Maybe we can agree on this very good prog release.
Phanerozoic I: Palaeozoic, by The Ocean
I like all the tracks I have heard so far.
Here's "first frame black".
First Frame Black, by Magic Shoppe
Gotta get a copy of this album. Settling for streaming ATM.
Aurora, by SLOW CRUSH
This is one of the best albums this year according to Phil Elverum of Microphones/Mount Eerie fame. It has the Everything Now confessional style and the soundscapes of Kings of Convenience.
"OUCH", by NICHOLAS KRGOVICH
Listening now. Really nice!
Reminds me some of Chris Cohen's two great albums, also The Aluminum Group's Wonderboyplus.
Agreed. This is pretty good:
Ok, well... I only found out about Alanna’s new project after reading about the hookworms mess and it reunites her with Owen (the other singer from Joanna Gruesome) and sounds great so fingers crossed we get a full length from them soon.
This is a great album, but Nicholas has been doing fantastic work for several years now -- check out On Sunset or In an Open Field next.
When we saw him live last year, he ended his set with a cover of Prefab Sprout's "Nightingales," which really defines where he's coming from.
Really digging this new album from Matt Corby.
Nothing groundbreaking, just some good songwriting and playing - sometimes it's all it takes to enjoy music
Good year for jazz.
Universal Beings, by Makaya McCraven
Haven’t heard the whole album, but the single “Ketchum, Idaho” has heavenly harmonies and is an 11/10 song. Can’t imagine the album (though I’m ordering a vinyl copy) could be anything except exceptional.

They may not be doing something all that original, but they are doing it well.
For me, so far the best albums of 2018 are by Shame, Girls Names, Preoccupations, & Moaning. There was a really great digital only ep from Spector, and nice vinyl ep's from Ride and Drenge. There was also a really great new remix album from The Cure.
The one new 2018 release that I am still really looking forward to is the ep from I Don't Know How But The Found Me that is out this week.

MGMT - Little Dark Age
A potentially heavenly, 22 min short album. Whole album streaming on bandcamp, so you don't have to imagine. Personally, really drawn to Bit the Hand. I'm very dismayed that it sounds badly clipped (and it is, I've looked at the waveform with Audacity), which is unfortunate for such beautiful voices and harmonies. Right where you want it to soar it hits the ceiling. It would be a stellar 22min if the mastering were good.
I second this - listening to it now, and it's very, very good.
I like the Voidz album too, it will probably be in my top albums list for 2018.
Will there be a new thread around the start of December for best of 2018 lists?
From my experience, we usually wrap up the year with lists posted in this same thread.
Which reminds me, I need to do some updating...
The new Uncle Acid release is great...although don't listen to this looking for sound quality as you're missing the point if you're looking for that with these guys. As with their other albums a shower after listening to it to wash the scuzz off is recommended!
Great stuff, thanks cherrycherry and Ironclaw!
Slow Crush LP ordered, and Makaya McCraven will be on my turntable as soon as its released here
@Dolemite brought Slow Crush to the thread. Thanks belong in that direction!
I just +1'd.
I am happy that you will getting a copy, too!
