Favorite movie Soundtrack that use actual pre recorded music not a score written for the film (Example: Taxi Driver Soundtrack would not count but Goodfellas Soundtrack absolutely does)

    My top 10

    1. Forrest Gump

    2. Boogie Nights

    3. Goodfellas

    4. Almost Famous

    5. Dazed and Confused

    6. Casino

    7. American Graffiti

    8. Pirate Radio

    9. The Big Lebowski

    10. High Fidelity
Honorable mentions: Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, Donnie Brasco, The Big Chill, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Outside Providence, The Wolf of Wallstreet, Mean Streets, Trees Lounge, A Bronx Tale, Everybody Wants Some!

    So yeah... thoughts?

I always think of the Beatles Capitol albums of "A Hard Days Night", "Help!" & George Martins "Yellow Submarine".

But, they are scores after all.....

The Harder They Come soundtrack has one new song -- the title track -- on it so maybe it's not 100% pre-recorded found music, but it's 92% found music and one of the few movie soundtracks that I listen to as an album.

A great soundtrack in search of a film! Truly execrable adaptation of an epochal novel. Tommy Mottola has an exec producer credit and Rick Rubin curated the soundtrack

Check out The Movies That Made Me podcast with guest Edgar Wright. He runs through a bunch of favorites. For me, Goodfellas, Casino, Raging Bull, pick a Tarantino, Repo Man, Boogie Nights

    From Dusk til Dawn.

It's loaded with coolness. And just hearing "After Dark" by Tito and Tarantula brings forth a vivid image of Salma Hayak dancing wearing little more than a big snake.

Aren’t a lot of these being posted invalid or am I misunderstanding the OP? I thought he was asking for soundtracks consisting solely of songs that were already recorded and not songs specifically recorded for the film.

Another Jonathan Demme picture. Silence of the Lambs has a tremendous soundtrack, too.

that “Bizarre Love Triangle” needle drop is amazing
