There have been a few more live recordings released among the more recent box sets...so which one’s best?

I like your optimism! Would love to be able to add it to the list one day.

Not exactly an album but: Live In Pompeii.

Pompeii’s great, but they have to get some more and earlier live DSOTM out there. For the moment, Pompeii’s about as good as they have released of live material.

It counts in my book, since they released the audio as a disc in TEY.

You're better off looking into ROIOs. There are plenty of good ones-it can be it's own thread.

Hmmm...with a terrible new mix. :sigh:
It needs a standalone release, and with a more balanced mix.
    But yes, it counts.

I went with 1974 myself. Been listening to it a lot recently. It’s rough in spots, but to me feels like the closest we have to experiencing the classic lineup/era.

Sadly they couldn’t get a Proto “Eclipse” from ‘72 or one of the early ‘73 shows with the Obscurred live cuts.

I haven't heard all those but I really enjoyed "Live At Pompeii", both the earlier DVD release and the remix on the Obfusca/tion set

(What I've heard beyond those: Pulse, Is There Anybody Out There, Ummagumma)

Hopefully the full Blu Ray will finally get reissued with the original cuts and a better higher res transfer.
Have no fear, Guthrie is on it.

There just has to be one in the vaults somewhere, doesn’t there? Or what about the BBC performances of DSOTM? It has to exist in decent enough condition for an archival release, doesn’t it? Some early DTSOM live performance? Or is that ‘74 show it?

Yes, that's the Wembley show. With some "tweaks". It's my pick. It's not perfect, but it's the classic lineup in their prime period with great sound and a good performance.

I'll say Ummagumma, it blew my mind when I heard for the first time. Live at Wembley just behind, then Live at Pompeii.

    Ummagumma

It is not only my Favorite Live PF Album, but the Live 4 Songs make up my Favorite PF Album(not including the Studio Songs), as those 4 Songs best represented all 5 Members of the Band and I prefer Psych-Rock & Space-Rock Pink Floyd.

I just wish it included Embryo & Interstellar Overdrive(and if it would have came out later, also Echoes and Atom Heart Mother, but I bought the BBC CDs about a year prior to the Early Years Box Sets(6 Book Boxes), which I also bought, so have plenty of Live Versions of their Early Space-Rock Songs now.

Umagumma 1 is better than Pompei. It's possibly my favourite live album of all time, tbh.

It hasn't been released, unlikely ever to be (lack of multis) the 1977 Animals/WYWH tour.
