john lennonist There ONCE was a NOTE, PURE and EASY...

    McCartney --- Maybe I'm Amazed
Ram --- Backseat of My Car
Band on the Run --- Band on the Run
Venus and Mars --- Listen To What The Man Said
Speed of Sound --- Silly love Songs
Tug of War --- Ballroom Dancing
Flowers in the Dirt --- Put it There
    Flaming Pie --- Calico Skies
Memory Almost Full --- hurts my ears too much to get through a single song!

His LPs fizzle out (for the most part) for me after "Band on the Run"... the only two after that I care much about are "Tug of War" and "Flowers in the Dirt."

    Fave Singles:
Hi Hi Hi, Another Day, Mull of Kintyre, Live and Let Die

Excellent list here, my Lennonist friend. However, I really love off the ground and it’s additional songs. Many, many kudos for including the very beautiful but highly now maligned by Brits who made it a huge hit, mull of kinyre and for crediting the likewise now maligned song with very complex bass and great vocal harmonies, silly love songs. Your list rocks...though I especially really enjoy New and ES albums as well.

Is it okay if I only go up to Flowers In The Dirt? Okay, thanks.
-"McCartney"-That Would be Something..McCartney, repetitious melodic simplicity at it's finest, IMO.
-Ram-Too Many People...not only for the song itself but the way he sings it, the electrically wooden sound of the acoustic guitar and one of my top three guitar solos on a post-Beatle recording.
-Wild Life-Mumbo...GREAT, unpolished, heavy garage Rock with a very cool vocal melody carried throughout in screaming fashion. Only paul could have done this, this well.
-Red Rose Speedway-Hold Me Tight medley.....not his finest moment, lyrically but I honestly couldn't care less. It's one section followed by another of melodic richness. I was "afraid' to admit how much I loved this whole part of the album when it had first come out. Finally, I grew up
-Band On The Run-Jet...frustratingly, the poorest mixed song on the album but a middle to kill for..."want Jet to always luhuuhv me"...only Paul could do a little vocal flourish so effectively, literally *making* the song.
-Venus and Mars-Listen To What The Man Said...yup me a fuddy duddy...I adore this song as an album track and as a great, mid-week, school-cutting sunshiny single. Another great commercial melody.
-Speed of Sound-She's My Baby...at the time, I heard this as a blatant Stevie Wonder rip off but the charm of the song in and of itself overtook any of that. And for some reason, the feel and atmosphere of this song exemplifies that mid-70's "I'm writing songs to enjoy myself" period of Paul's. Close second to this by the way is Warm and beautiful.
-London Town-London Town...as atmospheric as Paul ever got in his post-Beatle years, IMO. The song as a melody and a laid back lyric epitomizes the "gray" side of the album.
-Back To The Egg-Baby's Request...beautiful, White Album worthy song.
-McCartney II-One Of These Days.....I believe that if this song had been done within his first three albums with a slight bit of production, it would have been considered one of his major songs of the time period. Great melody in heartwarming, melancholic McCartney fashion. Like most everything else on this album-save for Coming Up-this song has been unfairly overlooked over time.
-Tug Of War-Tug Of War..a majestic song in every possible way.
-Pipes Of Peace-The Other Me...lambasted for it's "trite" lyrics...and who cares...to my ears, this has always been one very pretty solo McCartney song with a melodic sadness that struck my heart the first time I heard it. Also, great vocal and a great bridge. "Its not easy living by yourself, so imagine how I feel...".....tear evoking (seriously).
Broadstreet-No More Lonely Nights...simply the last truly great single paul would put out, IMO. Things were really changing now.
-Press To Play-Press To Play....not much to say about this album other than the fact it produced this likeable (but hardly great) single. The 80's production here is overbearing.
-Flowers In The Dirt-This One.....the late 80's....a different time, a different place. the album didn't fare so well here but this is one paul album which would have been gloriously huge had it come out 11, 12 years earlier. "This One" harkens to the melodic, brilliant simplicity of Every Night but as I said, many many years too late. Beautiful song and, dare I say it, quite Beatle worthy.
