John, I also have the JPN mini Lp versions. I noticed they have the identical copyright and publishing dates as the previously remastered versions. Yes, they are the Doug Sax remastered versions. The only difference is the possible use of better digital/digital data stream.

Opinions on The Wall from the "Shine On" Box Set?

I bought the Mofi "Wall" CD box when it first came out and felt guilty for spending $39.00 on a CD set at the time. It's tucked away in my entertainment cabinet somewhere and has only been played once. I was recently quite surprised to see what they were going for on eBay. Wish I had bought a few extra sets.

You were lucky. I had to shell out $50 for mine back then. (No regrets now, obviously!)

Nothing special. Same as the standard release.

Which one of the 4 "The Wall" standard releases are you comparing it to?

    1-Original Columbia
    2-Shine On Box Set
    3-Columbia Remaster
    4-Capital Remaster

Well, I wouldn't be comparing it to #2. as this is the one you had asked about. It was both the Columbia remaster and the Capitol remaster and as I recall the original Columbia's were no prize either. This was a few years ago, and after I bought the MFSL's I turfed the others as they were inferior.

I'm quite happy with the current Columbia/Capitol remaster.

Still holding on to my MFSL cd set. But I also own the Sony remaster as well as the Japanese mini-lp cd collection.

I compared the MFSL Wall to the Doug Sax version on the Shine On box. I prefer the MFSL - it has a richer, more spacious sound.

I wasn't going to pursue the MFSL due to the high price and due to good reviews of the Sax remaster. However, I was approached by a gentleman who wanted to swap his mint MFSL Wall for my MFSL sealed longbox DSOTM, along with letting me listen to it before committing. I listened, I liked, I swapped! I'm not sure who got the better deal, but I'm happy!

I say it has to be the MFSL version. One of the best they ever did! I also agree with the post on "Living in the Past". what a total package!

Love the quote about the foxy woman and how often ....

"As they say, I may not be good as I once was, but I am just as good Once as I ever was!

I guess I am saying (in my own perverted way) that I do not play this much anymore so when I do play, why not with the Foxy woman. Easier and more entertaining, don't you think?
