Red House on the UK Are You Experienced is a completely different performance from the Red House on the US Smash Hits. The stereo version of Remember is on the US Smash Hits
Vinyl would be in much better condition. If you had to quantify it, how close out of 100 (100 being the Polydor) does it cone close to it?
If the Polydor is 100 then the reissue is a 90 or 95. It's pretty good. I don't think the original 45 is really in high demand. I think I paid $10 for a nice copy with a crisp sleeve. The pressing and mastering seem very fine to me.
It's too bad great copies can't be found online at a good price. With shipping, I'd be looking at over 25$ for a single which wouldn't be close to being in fantastic condition. Seems steep to me. Meanwhile, I could get the RSD version for 11$ cheaper. That's why I was asking. If there's a place where a great copy can be had for around what you paid, please feel free to suggest it but so far, eBay and Discogs haven't resulted in a finding one.
And are we talking about the 2010 Sterling Stereo versions or the later Bernie Grundman Mono version as the best? I prefer Stereo but if Mono is better in every way then Id go for that.
Oh, absolutely! I don't care for mono for Hendrix except for some very early tracks like Stone Free which were only done in fake stereo.
Alright, I was not going to get the Axis Sterling reissue since I just bought a UK first press in EX condition for 100$. Sounds pretty good to me on most tracks but youve convinced me to try out the reissue as well. Thanks!
is this the same as the sony legacy 2010 press that is getting the high praise? The Jimi Hendrix Experience-Are You Experienced-180 Gram Vinyl Record|Acoustic Sounds
The Polydor UK 45 of Hey Joe sounds incredible. Very powerful as well as having the original and by far the best mono mix of Stone Free. Nowhere near the rarest, but one of my most treasured and played 45s.
The Acoustic sounds version sounds as good as my late 60s tan label Reprise so I think either are good, pick whatever is more affordable when you find it.
So which of the two 2010 Legacy vinyl's to get? The RE, RM, limited, numbered? Or just the RE, RM? Or just go with the AP QRP? Thank you!
I've got 3 versions: 1967 mono, has a warp but plays through at about G+/VG quality for the most part on the tri-tone label 1968 stereo, Really close to VG+, this one is on the two-tone label 2014 stereo with the Hendrix labels. For the money, I think the reissues are great, I personally think the 67 mono sounds the best, mix wise. However, I believe Hendrix albums need to be heard in stereo, as Jimi wanted multi speaker setups and stereo is the closest you'll get to what he wanted. For $11, the stereo reissue is what you want, on vinyl anyway. I have not heard the mono reissue but I do have the mono reissue of Axis: Bold As Love and it sounds great, although I find that the lack of stereo effects causes me to listen to one of my stereo copies instead. Don't waste your money on the originals, just get the reissues on Amazon when they go on sale for $11 for the first 2 albums and $18 or so for Ladyland
I guess I am confused as to why do another reissue 4 yrs after the previous reissue. One physical difference I have noticed is the 2010 is a gatefold and the 2014 is not...I think?
