ooh yeah a list of artists. No proof that Nirvana's Nevermind master tape is burned. It could be Nirvana's From the Muddy Banks of the Wishkah or whatever, and people here will still claim Nevermind is gone. We may never know, but speculating is just nonsense.
Same. Back when a thread was created based on a lengthy report, probably which was linked a couple of posts above, I tried to follow all the official statements regarding the bands I like. So far, only Soundgarden was confirmed to lost their master of Badmotorfinger, hence they used a DAT copy for anniversary reissue. As for Nirvana, a tweet was widespread from Krist Noivoselic, who replied something in a vain "probably" to some fan's questioning tweet about master tapes. Soon after in some report it was noted that only Nirvana "session tapes" were damaged which contained just studio stuff and not the master takes. Later on, to kinda close the case, official Nirvana Twitter account confirmed that tapes are all okay. Temple of the Dog and Audioslave's catalogue were both confirmed to be "suffered" from the fire without further details. Of course if you want some proof - I'll gladly re-find the links from which I gathered all my thoughts no problem, because I'm as well tired of same words that "oh, everything was lost in the fire" that people throw by just copy-pasting headlines and not reading the whole thing.
To each his own Would be a nice time to reissue their catalog with proper mastering, but that's a different topic. Um what? Nevermind, In Utero and Unplugged in NY all were released by ORG with master tapes used by Bernie. The thing is, only Nevermind and NY got Pallas reissues later. Michael Framer's 2010 review of In Utero ORG sticker from 2009 (Discogs) Old 2013 FB post by ORG
Oh, I just didnt see any BG initials on the In Utero ORG discogs page. Should be added in credits at least. https://www.discogs.com/Nirvana-In-Utero/release/4297165
Watched that "in groove" video. If this guy thinks Nevermind is a "raw" album he needs an education in what "raw" is. Sucks that two copies of a record he bought were destroyed in shipping.
Yep, Nevermind is quite polished, but heck, it’s a very good sounding mix. Andy Wallace knows his stuff. And just played my crossed out ORG pallas pressing and it sounds really good, so well balanced and natural sounding. But raw? not so much
Now that is pretty cool. I am pretty sure bought it at Camelot in Century III Mall (during a time when a mall had not just 1, but 3 music stores).
Didn't you say you used to live in Sq. Hill? There was an Eide's location there on Murray ave. a long time ago.
Yep. I don't remember that location. I remember NRM in Squirrel Hill on Murray Ave where Bruegger's is I believe. I was 12 when Nevermind was released and spent a lot of time at that mall around that year!
https://www.discogs.com/Nirvana-Nevermind/release/380426 I have this German pressing and it sounds excellent, one of the best sounding records in my collection. Also heard my brother’s BG Pallas reissue, it’s very good but doesn’t have the punch of the German.
Well, let’s just agree there was a fire and Universal hasn’t been really forward with what was lost, which (good or bad) has been cause for some speculation. That ok?
But how many copies can a seller order for his shop? I mean, this guy has already sold 204 until now, and he still has some ... in the meantime the price has obviously increased ... I hope he's not only selling the pics !!
1. The best pressing of Nevermind is undoubtedly the Nevermind Target Pressing (Yes I mean target exclusive vinyl) 2. The tapes didn't burn in the fire, it has been proven that they were one of the few people who survived it.
