Sinatra is my all time favorite, with Tony Bennett close behind. Streisand, Aretha, and Ella among the ladies. Little Richard had an awesome voice for rock 'n' roll / rhythm & blues. Luciano had serious chops for formal music. So did Maria Callas. I was never a country fan, but Willie Nelson sang that genre like no other in my view. Current music isn't my specialty. I'm not up to date on contemporary music, probably because I don't like an awful lot of it..

So basically, the "best vocalist(s) of all time" is 9 times out of 10 from the United States? It might surprise you that most of the planet isn't American... Hey, most of North America isn't American! Beside, I'm not sure I understand the purpose of such threads... What makes a "best singer"? A "nice" voice? The capacity to move people with a voice? Everyone just name their favorite singers -some are indeed good, not all... - and then what? There isn't much to discuss when everyone just come with a list of random names...
Considering that Patti retired in 1906 and Lind died in 1887, can I ask how you can tell that they were the "best singers of all time"?
It's page 5 and I really gotta be the first to mention Robert Plant? I'll also drop Karen Dalton's name for a more obscure share.
I mean there’s so many amazing talents, but I’m going to highlight a local from my city of New Brunswick, NJ.....Lovelace Watkins
Based on the definition proposed, I’d go with Levi Stubbs. As a singer, he’s competent but his voice absolutely drips pathos and makes superior pop songs absolutely heartbreaking.
Frank Sinatra. Dean Martin. Elvis Presley. Nat King Cole. Andy Williams. Marvin Gaye. Otis Redding. Don Henley. Karen Carpenter. Julie London. Helen Merrill. Sandy Denny. Linda Ronstadt.
