Maybe not a true classic like some of the duets in this thread, but I've always dug this one, great song.

I wish Rodney Crowell and Rosanne Cash would have done more like this. Video is great too.

One of the "bestest", no doubt.
A song written by Nickolas Ashford & Valerie Simpson.
At 1' 46" of the official video, someone forgets to keep singing:

"Ain't No Mountain High Enough" - Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell 1967.

Porter and Dolly "Fight n Scratch" is maybe my favorite. But as far as "best," I give that to the OP's first example... Elis and Tom by Elis Regina and AC Jobim.... not just great duets, but a stone cold masterpiece of an album.

So glad this thread bubbled-up today; yesterday was our first really nice March day! And every year it seems I forget my intent to go digging for great versions of this Brazilian classic on the first of the month. One year I spent a whole day just listening to different duets, solos, takes, experiments, tributes, and just reveling in my all-time favorite "song about everything". This 'Tube thing has dozens of examples of Jobim's worldwide reach, some gritty, some slick, some balls-out, some oozing like molasses.

Last year I discovered Swing Out Sister had collaborated with Akiko on it, which they never released themselves. But this is such a great, blissful, giddy gem of "sophisti-nova"; clearly Corrine and Akiko had a blast doing this; Andy's treatment just rocks it.

It's March; it's the joy in your heart.

Then...Just discovered this tonight before stumbling upon this thread, through some meandering searches which began w/Pete Doherty of The Libertines and Babyshambles and ended up on Johnny Borrell of Razorlight doing above-mentioned "Fairy Tale of New York" with Lisa Moorish...excellent, BTW, but figuring you were talking about Shane MacGowan (The Pogues) with Kristy MacColl (first time I'm hearing that song tonight!) Then, I wandered about looking for The Pogues song that Jesus and Mary Chain covered on their "Come On" CD/EP "Ghost of a Smile" and found this duet (which is beautiful):angel: Kind of a musical "Beauty & The Beast" which works lovely!

    Haunted - Sinead O'Connor & Shane MacGowan
