I dunno, this whole thing with Jeffie, a new character that seems poorly written and executed with the actor change and other problems, is certainly not about tying up loose ends. Seems to be more about setting up a "surprise" ending just for the sake of it.

I agree. Don't know what they're shooting for here.

Apologies if this has been posted, but have the running times of the next 2 episodes been published?

I’ve wondered why they do this instead of cutting it into three episodes. Is the idea that it cuts into the beginning of other shows so you’re essentially forced to watch whatever’s next on AMC? In the DVR era, that seems a bit outdated.

I assume those times include commercials.

I cannot think of a single show, including this one, that I would watch if I couldn't FF past the commercials. 50 minutes of content in a 1:20 min show.

I haven't watched a commercial in ages. It would probably be jarring for me at this point.

You're not missing much. There used to be commercials that were a lot of fun that I would stop to watch even if my program was recorded on DVR or VCR. I can't remember the last time I did that. Maybe the ones that featured this guy:

Forced to watch commercials with Bosch Legacy as no other options. Fortunately they were relatively short.

I've been increasingly wondering (worrying?) that the Gene timeline is actually Jimmy dreaming (or daydreaming) about what might have happened, if he hadn't been caught and arrested.

Mind you, I don't think the whole show is a dream (that would also make the events of BB a dream, which would be terribly insulting to the audience), just that part. Hence the B&W.

    Gene The Schnook..

Sure are a lot of "GoodFellas" overtones/references in this last episode. Which has been mentioned but here is a list of the ones Ive seen..

Gene and Francesca's phone call where Jimmy says "Why did you do that!" reminds me so much of when Henry says to his wife the same phrase after she flushed the cocaine. Gene's inflection sounds just like Henry there.

When Gene slams the phone over and over and kicks the phone booth reminds me of Jimmy (insteresting... "Jimmy") the Di Nero character doing the same after he finds out Tommy gets knocked off by the mafia.

Then when Jeff is worried about the computer expense and explains to Gene that "it didnt cost much I swear!" is like when Jimmy in Goodfellas tells the others not to spend a bunch of money and the one guy has bought an expensive coat for his wife.

Also, the ID of the first mark that Buddy broke into. His last name is "Hill", which is a reference to Henry Hill. As we know Henry Hill ends up in a dead end life style. "I'm an average nobody. Get to live the rest of my life like a schnook."

    Will Jimmy also?

And finally, "Mucho dinero! Mucho dinero!!" that Saul exlaims to Jesse and Walt in the Krystal Ship. Robert "Di Nero"....hello? (lol ok that one is kinda silly just kidding)

But yeah lots of calling back to "GoodFellas"

Maybe it is just Tom's penchant for old classic movies. But sure are many of the GoodFellas callbacks.

There are clues I think that Gene will end up dead possibly. I hate to say it but now I think this is where its headed.

Notice in the scene where after Gene has had his upsetting call to Kim that he is then back to the Cinnabon. The mixer symbolizes Gene's confusion and mixed up feelings. (Also the "switch on" he flicks is for me a reference of two things 1) His "all hell breaks loose now" switch has been flicked and 2) Here we go with the Frankenstein thing again lol..Dr Frankenstein hitting the switch to bring the monster alive...."Its alive! Its ALIVE!!" ...Gene has now awoken the 3 headed monster Jimmy/Saul/Gene..)

But something I didnt notice until reviewing yesterday...the infamous "EXIT" sign is with us again. As we watch Gene staring at the stirrer above him is the exit sign. That is never good.
Could the Gene in bed and grave just be straight forward? We have already mentioned the Gene/Walt parallels. Even his mustache. Jimmy is the goldfish, still trapped and drowning in a round bottom meth flask...

This is also interesting...this upcoming episode...Jimmy and Kim still married in a game of tug of war...?

Few more hours! We will see..!

    Nearly showtime folks!

One thing about Cliff hangers: Cliffhangers almost always are never what they seem. That is the nature of cliffhangers. "Who Shot JR?" remember that one? Most thought he was dead.

So the breaking glass in the mark's door with Gene?

Probably not what we think it will be.

You may be right about the little bits relating to "Good Fellows." I wouldn't know. I never warmed to Mafia films, novels or TV shows. Cruel evil like that has never fascinated me. I read one or two, watched one or two, went through the Sopranos almost completely twice because a friend was really into it, but . . . I can't tell if your analysis is right or wrong.

I will look forward to watching BCS in the morning. I won't get to watch it tonight, but it will be first on the agenda tomorrow!

Crazy to think we're just 7 days away from the end.

It crossed my mind that Gene saves the guy's life.

Now that is an astute interpretation.

A little while ago I stumbled on a video on Utube that claimed to have figured out the end to all this, so I started watching and it was soooo long winded, it took a ridiculous amount of time going over the cops that show up at the end of last episode.
Whether or not they are responding to an alarm or if they were called to the residence, I gave up a few minutes into this rambling.
The fact that the cops could have been called by Jimmy in relation to the well being of the gentleman inside the house was interesting I thought, but I think the fact that Jimmy smashed the glass either triggered a silent alarm or aroused the suspicion of a neighbor has to be what the cops are there for. Gene would call an ambulance if the guy needed help-not the cops.
Whether he gets busted here or not who knows, my guess is he squeaks by on this one only to be tripped up by Marion somehow.

    Goodfellas huh?.
The similarity to Henry Hill being a snitch? His living life as a shnook is the Gene life he is trying to navigate now.
When you mentioned the grave/bed I thought of the cornfield burial in Casino.

But yeah, maybe Saul gets hauled in and ends up singing like Ethel Merman, the only problem is there is no one left to snitch on...

I just think that we will be blind sided by the ending in a way that it would be impossible to describe at this point.

if those last 2 boring episodes get so much praise , i try to imagine people's reaction if BCS had an episode like Ozymandias
