Thanks for posting this! I had no idea that Bjork had a new album coming out. She’s one of my very favourite artists- every album promises a new adventure! I’ll be counting the days to this new release. 5 years between albums is just too long. :pineapple:

That's a great interview -- thanks for sharing the link. I only realized the label name had changed when reading about Kathryn Williams' latest album. I think it's cool they were sensitive to changing it.

    Björk: Sonic Symbolism

most of us go through phases in our lives that take roughly 3 years , and it is not a coincidence this is also how long it takes to make an album or a film . this podcast is an experiment to capture which moods , timbres , and tempos were vibrating during each of these phases

the first three episodes of björk : sonic symbolism will launch september 1st

i will share tomorrow the video to the first single from my new album called "atopos"
for me it is a good introduction .... kinda like fossora´s passport
sonically this is a heavy bottom-ended bass world
we have 6 bass clarinets and punchy sub drilling ,
nesting and digging us into the ground
    hope you enjoy
    warmth

Looking forward to what “branches of tree” she takes on next.

    looking forward to it..

Im hoping its more pop and melodic.

weve already had 3 albums of "avant gard/artsy" albums with biophilia, vulnicura and utopia.

They were great but hoping for something a little different now? a new path?

I am with you -- the description has me a little hesitant to hear it... it sounds somewhat pretentious to me...

Had it on repeat for an hour today, really loving it so far!

Not quite the return to Vespertine era lush pop melodies but definitely more lively than Utopia.

Here's the link to the new song (which I see is posted in the other Bjork thread). Maybe I have to listen again...

I dunno, after Vespertine I find Bjork's navel gazing insufferable?

Actually, it's not even navel gazing. It's navel astronomy.

same. but i'll give this new album a try. i'm always hoping for a rebound of sorts. this song just struck me as "ok" which is a more positive feeling than i experienced over any of the last couple releases.

I liked Volta for that very reason - it was kind of a more poppish respite, almost a Post 2.0.

I haven’t really liked her output in the past few decades and this seems like more of the same. It’s like it all goes into a Bjork song generator and spits out regurgitated forms of the same thing.

welp ...more of the same. seems more like a return to biophilia.

is that really her in the video? she looks like a different younger person?

If it's not pretentious, I will ask for my money back.
