Yup. Am cutting off my nose to spite my own face but am doing it for the principle of the thing. Eff Target! The way they dealt with this exclusive release was, well "Hard to Handle"...

I had a similar problem with them with the last Who album exclusive edition although it was in reverse. I preordered that via their website. They even offered free shipping. The release date came & went and they failed to ship out many of the preorders (not just mine, folks were complaining about that up here and another forum). Days or weeks went by. I could not get a straight answer from Target when or even if I would be getting my "exclusive" addition copy. Some were showing up on ebay from flippers for more $$. So I went to my local Target and just bought it off the shelf, where luckily they had a couple. I went to the customer service desk and asked them to cancel my preorder (after waiting in line like 1o minutes). They told me they could not do it but I could do it from home on their website. I tried but but of course I could not get that to work, the option for canceling it was greyed out. I called their support # and they wasted yet more of my time and eventually concluded it could not be done. Eventually I had to go back and return the preorder one when that eventually showed up, wasting yet more of my time.

So with this I figured I would just buy it in person (plus they were not offering free shipping on this one anyway). No problem. I just went to the store on release day after work on my way home (I work nightshift so I got there when they opened). They had no copies on the shelf but there was a guy back there opening boxes of music stuff to put out for stock. He looked around, opened every box, and even went back to their shipping bay/whatever since he said he thought they were back there. 20+ minutes later no luck. He told me to try up front at customer service. The woman there was actually a Black Crowes fan. When I told her what I was looking for she said she loved that album and would most certainly find it for me. After about another 10-15 minutes she was stumped, took her like 10 minutes to even find the listing for it although couldn't tell what listing was what. Told me to just order it from the website and come back to get it. Came home & tried to do that. Then figured out that that store did not have any, apparently for no good reason it was not available at any store within about a 40 minute drive.

Eff all this hassle and eff Target with their exclusive edition hassles.

    Rant over....I need some sleep....

There just comes a point where enough is enough. My boycotting of this BC exclusive @ Target now doesn't hurt them, only affects me, but it is the principle of thing, am fed up, I tried to buy it & it was made ridiculously difficult by them. Who knows though, maybe it will show up as a blowout there of extra stock for like a buck, as I stated above with some BestBuy exclusives that they got stuck with, then I'll pick it up. Or I'll find it eventually somewhere else...

And now with added Sven Pipien.

Clearly it wasn't he keeping the Bros Robinson apart in the bad old days ....

I was wondering what they were going to do about the twin cities date, which had sold maybe 1,500 tickets, at best, in a 15,000 seat arena. Turns out it just mysteriously disappeared from the schedule. Oops.

  14. The outdoor show here (outside Portland) is interesting. It's sized for Pearl Jam, The Police level acts (seen both there). In 2006, the place was EMPTY when I saw them there. What are they going to do now ?? They're better off at the Schnitz (~3500 cap) or the Crystal Ballroom (~1400), both are places they've played before.

Yup. And there was another thread that got a little heated where basically the dude's argument was essentially "prolonged absence from a market automatically creates arena-sized demand even with a questionable band lineup" and clearly this tour is proving that false.

I mean, agreed, this should be a 2,000-4,000 seat theater tour. There's a sizable core audience for the Crowes that is all that sustained them from 2005-2013, but my theory was that as many casual fans as the SYMM/anniversary gimmick would draw in would be balanced out by hardcore fans balking at the lineup change and crass Live Nation commercialism of the whole tour and sit it out, and the end result would basically be about the same as the last few tours they did.

Of course, that commercialism is why they're booked into venues they can't full. Rest assured, they'll be heavily papered, since even if half the crowd gets free tickets, LiveNation still makes money on the parking, concessions, merch, etc. But I can't imagine that being all that great of a musical experience, especially for old school fans who saw them at some of the best theaters in the country over the years.

(I also question the appeal of a full-album tour to the fanbase of bands who thrive on night-to-night setlist shakeups, but that might just be my personal 'meh' feelings about them)

Sven's back which could/should mean he'll be playing on that eventual new album with George Drakoulias producing. A rare positive. Nice.

if they had gotten Adam and Luther back would you consider this more of a real black crowes now?

Absolutely. I'm one of the few who rates Adam - fantastic player (apart from the first minute of his Wiser Time solos). But the sad truth is they're bound to have lost a lot without Gorman. I'd choose Joe Magistro.

Honestly, I'd take Mitchell over Dickinson. They're both great, but I think Mitchell has a tone/rock edge over Dickinson (of course I'd take Ford over either).
But the missing sauce will definitely be Gorman - the dude they have now is a good drummer, but his "groove" is just not right for the Crowes. Maybe having Sven now might help smooth him out, who knows.

Sven being back is a plus, but I agree with everyone above there are going to be a lot of freebie tickets out there a week ahead of the shows just to fill the sheds up.

Yeah, and the capacity for the LA Forum is almost 18,000 - not even at their biggest could the Crowes come close to selling that out. There's gonna be some free tickets to be had for sure!

Demand (gross sales) for this tour will be around 3x higher than a usual BC tour. This is mainly because TBC are playing their biggest selling album in its entirety. And there's a whole new generation of casual BC fans that only own or want to hear songs from SYMM and maybe TSH&MC. Pre-pandemic, TBC already added 2 nights in 7,000 & 9,000 capacity amphitheaters in Nashville & Denver...

I don't know about Denver, but Nashville was always two nights from the start. Nothing was added.

Lawn tix for Jiffy Lube are under $40, as long as weather holds, there’s no way I pass on this after a showless 2020

My guess is a week before the shows you will be able to find freebies just so Live Nation can get in as many as possible in the building.
