Yeah, this was interesting but weird. The 2021 in this demo sounds like a car crash, but in another youtube video posted here when played on its own it sounded fine.
The 2021 remaster does sound like a car crash (not in a good way), and the sample used in the comparison video is authentic.
No doubt, but I wonder what other variables are at play in terms of playing, recording, software being used to create these youtube clips.
I'm a Black Sabbath fan but the asking price here in the UK is an absolute joke. Another forum member bagged this box set for $24 which is a bargain. I certainly wouldn't pay more than $30 for it though.
I'm in the UK too. I want the set, but the wait will go on. I'd be willing to pay a little more than you - £40, maybe £45. The current price is a could 50% more than that.
May I politely ask why not? And is “never” actually a word (in the deeper philosophical sense, heheh)?
Paranoid super deluxe can be had for around £30 and in my view is better value for money so I still wouldn't pay the figures you quoted. The main album sounds like a pass and the bonus discs may not warrant repeated listening. That said, I hope buyers are enjoying their sets because after all it's the Sabb we're talkin' about.
The whole enchilada of outtakes?! I kind of want it now for that Under The Sun outtake; I like how it sounds here.
Just like The Who Live At Leeds I am a fan of that disc BTW I wouldn't be surprised if there is an adapted version of this boxset down the road just like Jethro Tull's Aqualung
If anyone is still on the fence on this because of the price, importcds (in the US) has it for $42.85. I still can’t figure out why the box isn’t on Qobuz; only the gawdawful new remaster is.
Placed my back order two weeks ago. Does Import CD fulfill their back orders? I noticed they have "Songs for Groovy Children" listed as a backorder (really?) vs no longer available. Just hope the set doesn't sell out completely. Avoiding all of these YouTube outtakes is hard!
I've encountered one instance where a backorder was ultimately not fulfilled, and my money was refunded. It took (maybe) a month before that happened, but that was the only time.
Worth mentioning you get a discount code on your first order when you create an account. Got an additional 4.28 off the price.
I highly doubt that the uploader used different software for the clips he used for his video. Ask him if you like, he's a member on this forum as well. Also, if the software he used wasn't rightout broken, every possible sound changes it introduces would be smaller than the differences between two different masterings. The differences I hear in the video mirror perfectly what I remember from my own lossless listening tests.
I must be out of the CD buying loop since I usually buy vinyl these days, but are 4CD Box sets with a book commonly priced at $30? I know CD is struggling as a format, but that is crazy!
Yeah, that is way too high. I just was surprised to hear someone say they wouldn’t pay more than $30 for the CD Box. That seems unrealistic, but as I say I’m a bit out of the loop on the CD market. That $43 price mentioned as being available at ImportCDs seems reasonable.
I asked because guitar forums sometimes question the validity of youtube tone comparisons, citing multiple variables. It would be cool to have more information on the process involved.
