Is the "Self Titled" clarifier necessary? :D

Here's one clue for you all... one original ATCO cover had no writting anywhere except in the spine: "Blind Faith ATCO Records 1841 Broadway NY NY 10023". To help identify the album ATCO placed two transparent stickers. There is a lyric sheet included. :D

    Compared to what?

You can't evaluate the mastering of the CD if you are not comparing it to an alternative release, unless you have heard the master tape.

We got the ATCO tan and brown cover with the picture of the group on the front. On my Zenith fold-down stereo it sounded like it was recorded in a trash can with the lid still on. Dreadful sound.

If you want to hear what the master actually sounds like, get the MoFi Gold CD. It ain't great, but it's better than that ATCO LP, that's for sure.

  13.

It sounds alright to me. I didn't say I was comparing it to anything!

I like the sound of the Drake too. Not the best, but "dry", not murky.

  16. Thanks. I guess I'm getting battered today!

What I mean is that, in answer to the question posed by the thread--does the album sound "murky"--my opinion is that the Drake CD, at the very least, does not.

This sentence makes no sense. Can you please clarify?

Is it a language problem, wrong grammar? I think I was quite clear.

All the following factors (and many others) influence the sound quality of the final product:
    Room accoustics
    Microphones
    Recording
    Mixing
    Condition of the tape
    Mastering

If you want to review the quality of the mastering, you need to have some point of reference, e.g. another release or the master tape.

Andreas, I thing the statement "sounds alright" just means, there's nothing wrong with it (not murky, for example). No reference is needed for that kind of statment because it's just refering to someone's sentience. Another case is a statement like "sounds the best".

After much searching the elusive, uncensored, A1/B1 (420) UK Polydor gatefold vinyl was found at my local Half-Priced Books.......and in absolutely georgeous, NM condition, both cover and vinyl:righton:

thanks for pointing me to this edition.....it is well worth seeking

mine also has "24" on one side and "29" on the other....anybody know the significance?

Have you compared this to The MFSL CD or vinyl? These are the only ones I've had and I was wondering if this original UK sounds better. thanks

  23. I have the Holland vinyl and the early-issued cd w/ the two bonus tracks that aren't really BF. The cd is a little more "open", the room sounds bigger. The lp is warmer and more intimate, but still not muffled.

  24. UK Blind Faith

I like this one over the MFSL vinyl, hands down:thumbsup: ....never had the CD

it stomps to H*LL the other various US versions I have had....Ginger Baker on "Do what you LIke"....YIKES!! Neck Hair Raiser!

And such nice vinyl after, what? 35-36 years?....even the original bias cut made in England plastic inner/paper outer sleeve....and as it says, "Plastic Bags can be Dangerous".....so don't be puttin' these over your head,ya hear?!!

Thorough cleaning tomorrow, (just couldn't wait.sorry!)...

    my knees almost buckeled:D
