not sure if I 100% agree but those 2 albums would be ranked in my top 8 BOC albums and of course 4 of those spots go to the first 4
Not just a new album, but they're reissuing the albums I don't have on CD. (Heaven Forbid, Curse, Classics, etc) and other live releases. I'm pretty happy.
Sign me up. It's a bummer that Curse and Heaven Forbid aren't being reissued in the Americas, as I'd love to have those on vinyl. Guess I'll hope for something down the road.
Even though it has a few great songs, I would say Curse of the Hidden Mirror is one of their two or three weakest albums. On the flip side, Heaven Forbid is one of their best, IMO.
I have the originals of the ones I want so I will pass on the studio stuff but if the Blu-ray is reasonable I may consider it. As for live stuff, how about some of the band avec Bouchards.
I just posted about this in an existing BOC thread where we were talking about an announcement coming up today - then I saw this separate thread....anyways....this is GREAT news but am totally perplexed about the "[Not available for North / South America] mentioned above. I got the scoop on this from this link below (ULTIMATECLASSICROCK) and they made no mention whatsoever of that restriction. Blue Oyster Cult Sign Deal for New Album Even if true though, those in America that still need those out of print albums should be able to pick them up through any number of internet based places like amazon, amazon.UK, ebay, importCDs, etc etc etc at prices far below what the out of print originals had been fetching in recent years.
The Ultimate Classic Rock article is pretty much a condensed version of the official announcement posted earlier in the day on the BOC Facebook page so not all the information is present. But, as you point out, these albums will still be obtainable by fans in North America.
The best thing about that to me is the guys are playing LIVE, playing TOGETHER. Rather than some kind of emailed protools seperate studio project with people miles apart never "connecting", just putting parts down in a vacuum. Yeah maybe that is just a rehearsal and when it comes down to it of course there will be some separate recording of different parts to some extent but still it shows that they will be making a record with all bandmembers there in person, making music the good old organic way.
BOC have been one of my personal favorites my entire life so it makes me happy to see them back in the studio.
