Bob Dylan – The Bootleg Series Vol.16: Springtime In New York (1980–1985) (Content & Sound Quality)

ISIS magazine has just dropped through my letterbox and they say May/June and it’s featuring songs from the Infidels Sessions.

 

Do they specify if it’s exclusively Infidels?

 

The short paragraph is literally: “moving onto cheerier things, the next Bootleg Series, The Bootleg Series Vol 16 is due in May/June 2021 and will feature songs from the 1983 Infidels sessions”.

So there could be more than just Infidels, potentially.

KOL is a killer album tons of stuff was recorded for that album, easily a box.

 

Indeed, very exciting. I personally hope it's more than just Infidels, but no complaints if it is a deep dive of just those sessions.

 

So assuming we're talking late May/early June, when could an official announcement come? Mid April?

 

Well I have four words regarding this news: electric. Blind. Willie. McTell.

 

It's about as good as the acoustic, imo. The sessions already "available" for Infidels are pretty great and high quality so hopefully everything else that's included will be of the same standard.

 

This could be good. There are some things I'm definitely curious to hear. It's an awfully uneven album, though.

 

Could it be that some of the recordings Bob made with Clydie King would show up on an Infidels based bootleg series?

 

I´m in it for this kind of Bootleg Series release.

Could be. "Empire Burlesque" and "Knocked Out Loaded" could turn up, also. Mr. Source has always liked to tell a story...

 

Including the 1982 recordings would mean there is no gap between this set and Trouble No More. But that is usually not the goal of the Bootleg Series.

 

I wouldn't be at all surprised if "The Villager" makes an appearance at the end of the year; outwith the Bootleg Series, though, more like the cheap and cheerful "Live" cubes.

 

If so, 2021 will be a banner year for Dylan fans. It’s already looking pretty decent.

 

We'll see. There's not much in the way of "Shot of Love" on BS13, more's the pity, so that may be a sufficient enough gap for us to be disgruntled by the choices Mr. Source makes....

Either way, I'm sure Terry will be pleased and Red Planet Books will be re-printing his book like crazy.
