Any excuse to post a ridiculous meme...

I happen to prefer the live, extra rocking version of "Isis" off of Biograph. But as someone said in another thread, every version is the "good" "Isis". What's your favorite version of this great tune?

It depends upon what the meaning of Is is.... is.

    Desire.

Biograph is the obvious choice for me. It is miles above the TBS5 version (they should've used it, duplication be damned, i mean, it didn't stop them on other volumes, including Vol.4). Then there's the 1976 Fort Worth version and then the album version.

I like the live versions from 1975 (like from Biograph and the The Bootleg Series, Vol. 5) more than I used too, but I still think the Desire version is better.

Here's a good performance from 1976, from the "Unaired Hard Rain Special"

"Desire". The whole album is top five favorite Dylan albums for me and it's my most played version of "Isis".

For years, I preferred the overwrought Renaldo & Clara live version which appeared on Biograph. But I've gravitated back to the Desire original recently — just love Dylan's more conversational delivery.

The White Stripes version is a hoot, however.

I wonder if the 2 or 4 hour version of Renaldo & Clara will be a feature of any future Bootleg volume. The Vol. 5 DVD has some of the concert excerpts from the movie, so maybe that's it.

If I was forced at gun point to pick one, I'd go with the Biograph version. Nonetheless, like most Bob songs, almost all versions have something to offer.
