1988 was the best NET with Kenny A on bass, wish hed stayed a bit longer.

i made a tape of penn state 199o with wiggle wiggle and the hank williams tune, at the end of the show bob raised his guitar over his head in salute. the next night in princeton cesar the guitar tech sold me a ticket for a 100 bucks. but that 1990 tour went downhill in a hurry.

other than 1988 i give fall 1992 props, with bob playing lead on the acoustic.
right before winston watson and bucky were unleashed.

i saw some 76, and let me tell you, the audiences were far from enthusiastic. 1978 however, they went wild.

I may regret this later, but does anyone have a current download/streaming link for Renaldo and Clara?

I'd take a NET set just about any way they wanted to give it to me. If they're looking to release whole shows, they could do worse than start with these:

    10/19/88
    10/19 or 10/20/94
    3/11/95
    12/17/95
6/17/96 (maybe my favorite show of the '90s, and that's saying A LOT)
    12/19/97 (or 12/8/97)
    2/15/98
    2/22/99
    10/1/2000

If they wanted to do compilations, they could put together a nice set from the Brixton '95 run, the 1999 club shows, the fall 2000 tour of Europe. Or they could just release the "Pure Heat" 1997 compilation, or the "Pathway to the Stars" fall 2000 (U.S.) set.

I am pleased to see 12/17/95 (Philadelphia) on this list...I have been at two of these shows and have recordings of all of them and that is what I consider the best.

I would love to see a release of entire shows with a selection of other highlights and rarities. The thing is, it would have to be vast: like 30-50 entire shows and 25 or so discs of rarities and highlights. I do not see that happening, but that would be a scope that would begin to adequately capture Dylan's live performances since 1988.

I see 2/15/98 on there. I was at the very next show, 2/17/98 at the Fox Theater in St Louis. I had been a casual Dylan fan since the mid 70s, but stupidly never went to any concerts until this 98 one, as my fandom turned more serious. I also ended up getting a fantastic sounding recording of the complete show, pretty cool to have my 1st memorialized.

Great show with a great setlist. To hear gems like Masters of War, Man in a Long Black Coat, and the elusive Blind Willie McTell all in my first Dylan concert was a rush. Sitting 2 rows in front of me was sports broadcaster Bob Costas, who I exchanged a few quick words with as we were walking out.

After that, I went to about a dozen shows from 98-2006, traveling to see many. A great period to amp up my fandom.

Wow. I envy you seeing that concert.
There is a rough tape of Pensacola 1976. Setlist according to the tape:

    Mr Tambourine Man
    Just Like a Woman
    Vincent Van Gogh
    I’ll Be Your Baby Tonight
    Maggie’s Farm
    One Too Many Mornings
    Isis
    Blowin’ in the Wind
    Railroad Boy
    I Pity the Poor Immigrant
    Shelter from the Storm
    I Threw It All Away
Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again
One More Cup of Coffee (Valley Below)
    Going Going Gone
    Lay Lady Lay
    Silver Mantis
    Mozambique
    Idiot Wind
    Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door
    Gotta Travel On

At this show the stage was invaded by a fan during Blowin’ In The Wind. Baez and Dylan both shouted for them to be removed which was done shortly after.

i put that on dat from the master reels way back in the day.
    many years ago for sure.
whatever momentum those 76 shows were able to ramp up
    was decimated by silver mantis.
if they do a 76 box they have to eliminate that song.
how in f did that t bone burnett hook up with RTR?

I want a transfer of your DAT, please.

Guam was T-Bone's outfit. He brought those musicians together
before they started playing with Dylan and he sold Dylan on the
whole stupid "rag rock" idea with its stops and starts.

Silver Mantis is a bummer, to be sure.

A shame that we don't get any sets from other artists (as far as I can tell). The RTR was pretty extraordinary and magical with the different performers a key part of that. Providing 14 CDs of just Dylan seems to miss the point a bit.

    In theory, yes.
But in reality, I always skip the other tracks until I get to Bob.

Hey, I was also at that Fox show, and it was also my first! I’d had a hard time warming up to Time Out Of Mind, but it clicked after that.

I just finished subjecting myself to Renaldo & Clara for the first time in about 13 years. I probably enjoyed it more this time than ever before.

Wow, cool. I've seen Bob in KC several times, including the Uptown, Starlight and a minor league ballpark in the area.

All legitimate reservations and complaints, however, I find myself in agreement
    mostly with the bold quote.

I referred to the concept of releasing concerts online as downloads and CDs
on a regular basis. Obviously I was not referring to bad or flawed presentation.
Just one company mixes badly doesn't mean the other company should follow
suit. Just because one company puts CD's into plain cardboard sleeves doesn't
mean the other company will do the same. I would prefer gatefold cardboard
sleeves with pictorial covers and notes inside. Nothing extravagant. The CD
sleeves inside The 1966 Live Recordings is my idea of how to do it right.

Who in their right mind would object to this ?

Renaldo & Clara is one of those Dylan projects that should be sold online
by the branded website to the fans who want it, not manufactured for
retail outlets. It's a personal and eccentric home / road movie, not really
a commercial project. That having been said, I find it interesting for the
most part although I do get impatient when Dylan isn't the onscreen.

Thanks for that. I believe Roger McGuinn played Eight Miles High, Chestnut Mare, Jolly Roger and Dear Abby. He had just put out Cardiff Rose produced by Mick Ronson, He was backed by Guam.

Hmm. That was basically Roger McGuinn's setlist at RTR shows.
Did Guam have much trouble staying in time with him?

I'm surprised they did not include one complete show. Getting rights could not have been that difficult.

I agree, one complete show, or at least a best of overview of the rest of the shows, would have lent more authenticity and context to the Rolling Thunder Revue Tour--Dylan didn't do this as a solo tour, it was a traveling group of troubadours playing music etc communally. That's a disappointment re this box.

I’ve had a suspicion for years that the format of the RTR - a static backing band fronted by a rotating cast of performers - served as the template for The Last Waltz in late ‘76. If this box included even one full RTR concert, that connection would become a lot more apparent for some folks.
