what does "its not presumed guilty into proven innocent' mean? makes no sense.
the state chose NOT to retry him again. They could have chosen to try him again, it happens all the time.
the word is "exonerated". had he been exonerated , ie, found not guilty by a jury then the state could not choose to try him again. i dont know what is so difficult to understand.

I agree, the appeals process and especially habeas proceedings can be complex and confusing for the layperson. I am sometimes surprised though at what some people don't understand about the basic tenets of our criminal justice system and the whole burden of proof concept.

Not exactly the same, but as we've seen over the past couple of years. Sometimes people don't accept a "verdict."

That was a typo which I corrected. "It's not presumed guilty until proven innocent" is what I meant, "into" corrected to "until".

You keep throwing in the word "exonerated". I never used that word in my posts. I said he was "judicially determined to be not guilty" and his convictions were thrown out. I also don't know for sure whether they could have successfully retried him again after the habeas result and the Supreme Court refusal.

I'm done here. You don't fully get the whole concept of "presumption of innocence until PROVEN guilty by a court of law", so I'm not going to beat my head trying to explain that over and over.

how can he be 'exonerated' if he could have been convicted for a third time and sent to jail. How can someone
be convicted of a crime he was 'exonerated' of. LOL People can be tried 3, 4 times for the same crime, hung jury, appeal etc
all you have to do is read any of the linked stuff which spells it out in detail.

    LOL

I love the song Hurricane its one of my favorites.
Songs dont have to be factual to be good. I love Joey too great track.
And John Wesley Hardin and Pretty Boy Floyd, who objected to a copper
talking to his sweetie in a manner rather rude. all great songs.

To be fair to Dylan, once court transcripts went public, he never played the song again.

Then there was the Canadian “incident”....

The case, itself, is used in advanced law enforcement training.

I love the song as a fantastic piece of music that is an incredible effort to tell complex news events in rhythmic and rhyming fashion and make it sound exciting and interesting and not plodding. Dylan's vocals are crisp and precise and his delivery cuts like a knife.
And I love the song in addition because of the case. ;)

True. I've posted about this tune before, but yes, it adds to the feel and gives Dylan a break between verses. I am fascinated by the video I have of them doing Hurricane live on TV at that John Hammond tribute.
