Tom: If you turn the discs in the box by 90 degrees the lid fits snugly. Like this:-

There will still be a deluxe physical release for as long as there are fans alive who will still pay a reasonable price for such a product.

The interest in vinyl has surged in recent years because people still like something tactile in a world of digital emptiness. So let's not get carried away based on one 5 year projection.

Things that stand the test of time do so for a reason.

    Oh, yeah. I forgot those.

But I still think it is odd that he hasn't played the most famous hall in America, and possibly the world in over 53 years.

Not since the Woody Guthrie tribute concert in '68, I'm guessing....?

His return to touring, even if you start that era in 1974, did include many tours that emphasized very large venues. But for much of the NET, there were often classic theater shows, many of them smaller than Carnegie. Yet, still not one Carnegie appearance in the entire NET. It cannot be Carnegie alone that is rejecting Dylan. Dylan's team, or likely Dylan himself, must have no interest. I have heard that even seasoned artists have a lot of anxiety about being on that stage.

My grandfather had an "artist residence apartment" in Carnegie Hall in the 1940's and 1950's (they existed, and may still be there). I wish we had visited him there, but he wanted solitude.

I wish Dylan would play *this* Carnegie Hall...in Lewisburg, WV. Beautiful venue. I saw Doc Watson there back in '98....

From 1988 onwards, Bob would only play venues with a modern V-DOSC line array sound system. Currently he’ll generally only play shows or venues with a similar more modern line array system.

Not sure about Carnegie Hall, but if it doesn’t have that type of PA installed as standard, it’s unlikely he’ll play there.

Thanks for collating that playlist, Spartacus. How ironic that the only way
to hear the entire, uninterrupted concert -- one of Dylan's most inspired,
moving and iconic performances -- is on unofficially released tapes and
bootlegs. I actually prefer the unofficial release, an lovely mix of a superb
    soundboard tape.

Thanks for the reminder. I need to catch up with the complete version.

31 RTR 1975 concerts = 62 discs assuming the Dylan set is complete from each show.

Is it known which shows are included or excluded in the brick?
    Who can extrapolate?

As you know the Live 1966 Recordings brick had two vinyl offshoots, Royal Albert
    Hall and Sidney.
Which concerts from the Rolling Thunder Revue brick will be released on vinyl?

Don’t think all shows are complete. Might be wrong but don’t think so.

Correct, and the 7 missing songs (below) can be found on the 1963 Copyright release, which technically is also official. So, the whole concert has actually been officially released. It would just be nice if they mastered it all together.

    "Blowin' in the Wind"
    "Percy's Song"
    "Seven Curses"
    "Walls of Red Wing"
    "Talkin' World War III Blues"
"Don't Think Twice, It's All Right"
"Only a Pawn in Their Game"

If anyone wants to start a Chapter Hall 62 / Town Hall / Carnegie Hall 63 thread
to discuss those Dylan concerts I'll chime in. These concerts are major events for
releases that haven't totally come together. So much to say and discuss about them.

I suggest making it "Bob Dylan - Early Live Show Thread (1961-1965)" to get broader discussion and more participation

I'd be surprise if they were, actually, but one can hope for the best.

By one entry this will be a 15-disc collection. Which shows does that suggest?

It doesn’t. I personally don’t believe the 15 disc thing is accurate at all.

I'm guessing if a full concert would be released on its own it would be any of the December shows. The band's on fire, Bob's vocals are top notch and we know Montreal and MSG were professionally recorded.

    Well done, Tribute.

Have your contacts conveyed a ballpark idea of what we're getting?
Live 1966 Recordings was 36 discs. Will the RTR be more?

To be consistent with the original Rolling Thunder concept, I think the Rolling Thunder Box should be issued on 78RPM shellac.

Maybe about 2,000 78s might cover it.

    Break 'em and weep.

Interesting that you mentioned "Johnny Cash At San Quentin 1969". Despite the number of releases there has been over the years, including the apparently definitive 2CD/DVD job a few years back, surely there is a case for a big 50th anniversary box featuring this historic concert. It should tie in nicely with a copyright collection of Dylan/Cash sessions...

And the small sheet with the disc #/city list fits just inside the lid nicely for cross-reference. I used a small smear or two from a glue stick and affixed it in there for good.
