Nice packaging. I am still hoping for a complete tour presentation like Live '66.

    Just a guess but ...

How about the 5 shows used for BS5 (2 discs each) plus a 3 disc overview of the entirety of (the Dylan portion of) RTR '75 including rehearsals but minus the 5 shows presented in their (Dylan) entirety, and the 14th disc is a DVD?

The static set list makes the Live 66 set a bit of a slog, even though obviously Dylan’s mood and performance varies from night to night.

You're not supposed to listen to the 66 set all at once

    And I didn’t.

  6. Good point. By the time I finished the Live 66 set I’d felt I had actually gone on the tour. Not a bad thing mind you, just a bit of a slog -as you say- at times due to that static set list. Add in the audience hostility, Dylan’s up and down mood and the sound quality on some of the shows and you got one hell of a trip.

All this talk of the Live 66 set is making me sort of yearn for it. Despite the exhaustion I do like it.

  7. Admittedly I over did it, although I listened to one show a day, every day until it was done. 22 or 23 days in a row is probably the wrong way to do it.

This thread will grow exponentially until about one or two months after release. Page 28 will soon be page 128, and keep going from there

Rare Cool stuff on Facebook just changed their cover photo to a ticket stub from RTR. They usually do that immediately before the announce. So, prepare for an announcement this week (I hope).

On a thread somewhere a Joe Slater? said 1976 was on a short list to be done in physical format before Sony went to all streaming. Something I'm not happy about but it is the way of the future, whether I like it or not.

Assuming we get complete versions of the 5 shows used for Bootleg Series 5, we'll get 8 songs that don't appear on BS5 (assuming I can do math):

    When I Paint My Masterpiece
    Wild Mountain Thyme
    The Times They Are A-Changin'
I Dreamed I Saw St. Augustine
    Never Let Me Go
    Dark as a Dungeon
    I Don't Believe You
    This Land Is Your Land

The variety within the 5 shows lies mostly in the acoustic performances. All 5 shows starts with the same 3 songs, have "Romance in Durango", "Isis", "Mama You Been on My Mind" and "I Shall Be Released" each night in the same slots, and end with the same 7 song run ("Oh Sister" through "This Land is Your Land").

Jeff Slate, who did the liner notes for More Blood was interviewed on the Is It Rolling, Bob? podcast. He said Dylan's people have physical Bootleg Series releases lined up for the next 3–5 years (including a 1976 set) and will then review the situation concerning future physical releases. There are no plans yet to go all-streaming. Jeff Slate also says that he thinks there will continue to be physical releases of archival material, it's just that they might be limited edition, "boutique" type releases like the "Cutting Edge" box.

Sorry. I did not catch that when I was reading it. But 1976 was on the list along with the Villager and the Supper Club? Am I remembering that right?

What’s the betting? Will Amazon announce overnight for a low, low price, and then cynically jack it up before I awake? They do this every time!

I’m setting my alarm (California time) for 4 AM. :realmad:

Probably not. I'd prefer it to be a disc of rehearsals anyway.

Just want to chime in saying that I'm really excited for this forthcoming set. I loved the journey that the 1966 Recordings box took me on, and even if I may potentially not revisit the box as a whole, I still enjoy dipping in to random shows from the set when the mood strikes me. In anticipation, I'm listening to the Bootleg Series Vol. 5 as I work, today. It's the first time I've ever listened to any recordings from this tour, and if this is the quality that we can expect then I reckon we must be in for a treat.

I think what we see stacked up next to the box image are four digipaks, each with several discs. I doubt we'll end up with just 4 discs as some have been suggesting.

Is it known whether the Lowell show is included?

I was at that show. Nov. 2 1975. A Sunday night. Sitting at the side of the gym court about 30 feet from the stage. Unforgettable.

Well, if it is included don't expect any compensation from Zebra Films if your voice or likeness is included in the audio or video. You waived your right to cash-in back in 1975.

Man, I was really hoping for a comprehensive tour box, but I'm sure I'll be happy with this more curated set too.
