Thanks for sharing. He was responding to my post those 23 years ago. My opinion of the performance hasn’t changed. :)

Does anyone have a thought to the price of this set?

Where can I find this outtake with Emmylou Harris?

I listened to Plymouth Rock. Brigham Young, Ha. It's great to hear Bob fresh but I still prefer the dissolute one in Lock Up The Fort. Still hoping for a second set.

that tape of St John the Evangelist is everywhere in great quality, there is no need for it to be on the box.
put stuff in there we dont have.

Welll it's everywhere that clued-up, internet-savvy bobcats roam, but that's a small slice of potential listeners

Nope. They don’t have it. It’s a 1st generation dub off the master reel made in 1975, transferred by myself. Sounds better than the supposed transfer from the master.

Very interesting. I should hope you or someone else can find a way to get it out if it's not officially released on this RTR set. One of the finest Dylan moments ever put to tape, in my opinion. Thanks for clearing that up.

@Mbd77, are you thinking this performance will be on the box? And if so, could it be an inferior version to what you have? Or could there be another source we never knew about?

If they use the commonly circulating master transfer, then it will probably inferior.

I’m not aware of anything other than the 1 recording.

I don’t believe it will be included, personally, but who knows.

How can you be so certain they don't have it?

Because I never gave it to them.

    Understood.
Couldn't they have obtained it from the taper or someone close to him?
How do we know he didn't give them a dub?

I wonder if "Abandoned Love" is performed during the rehearsals. We have two
    versions. Another would be nice.

They could’ve, however the taper did a digital transfer from their master tape in the early 2000s - it turns out that transfer isn’t as good as my off-master version. The tape could’ve deteriorated in storage, the equipment and methods used to transfer the tape could’ve been lesser, I don’t know.
Mine was done professionally around 2013 and sounds smooth, clear and analogue. To my ears, and the small group who’ve heard it, apparently it’s the best version they’ve heard.

If they got the tape direct from the taper, maybe they could do their own transfer which could be equal or superior to mine but if the tape has deterioration that might be difficult. If they were to just use the commonly circulated version...well that’s a shame - it sounds harsh and like there’s a blanket over it.

I think what it shows is that use of the ‘master’ tape doesn’t always guarantee the best version.

The MOJO exclusive track is from the Boston FIRST SHOW and as such is indeed previously unreleased.

    Nice sound quality too.

@Mbd77 If this performance is not on the upcoming box, would you ever share your off-master copy? It seems such a shame that it’s not available to the general public!

At the moment I’m holding it back if they want it for an official release - they’ve used stuff sourced by me on official releases before but I’ve never got a credit - they haven’t asked yet, but they know where I am. ;)

let me get this right. if someone happens to have the JC/BD acetate, and should the material therein not be released this year, the person can make a cd and sell it without anyone shooting/arresting this hypothetical person?
