Good call. TIME OUT OF MIND was released a couple of weeks before my mother died and it was the only music I could listen to at the time ... I was often listening in the middle of the night ...
It's pretty well known 'why.' Lanois mixed TooM to specifically sound the way it does (like you're listening to it from the back of a smoke filled bar). I hear rumor that it was going to be one of the 2003 SACD's, but Bobby nixed it because it's not supposed to sound clean/crisp/clear. Edit to clarify by bias: I hate TooM and hope it gets a good remaster someday.
Yup! My copy should arrive on Monday. In checking FedEx tracking for my copy, I saw this at the top of the page: "FedEx anticipates local delays in Alabama, Florida, Louisiana and Mississippi February 12 – 17 because of Mardi Gras 2015 celebrations."
And yet it was OK to remix 'Love Sick' for the Victoria's Secret advert and the subsequent EPs? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Love_Sick If you haven't heard it, check it out - a big difference from the album version.
Since last fall, we've seen New Morning, The Times They Are A-Changin', and now Bob Dylan. That's a nice blast of releases over the last few months! I still need to get these three plus Desire, so I'll be placing an order for them soon. Here's hoping John Wesley Harding is next in the queue. Really want a good mastering of that one. Tame the harmonica, MFSL!!!
Try the original Columbia CD for John Wesley Harding. I believe Steve stated it is a flat transfer from the original master.
The Columbia CD is very good (4633592). But I also thought that Sony's "Blood on the Tracks" was good until I heard the Mofi SACD.
Are both the performances and recording quality pretty good on Before the Flood? How's the Mofi SACD?
Import CDs just shipped my Bob Dylan SACD art a great price, but what happened To Times They Are A Changin' & New Morning????
The Mono Remastered version is very good, and 'tames' the harmonica well. I'd still be interested in a MOFI Stereo though!
Can someone list which MFSL Dylans use the original mixes? I am not interested in remixes. Did MFSL use mono mixes on any of these? Thanks.
