FYI New Morning was already issued a few months back. I bought one from the nice folks at Music Direct.
I'd get that too, but I think the Sony SACD is OK. My most wanted MFSLs: JWH Planet Waves Shot of Love World Gone Wrong Modern Times
The Sony SACD Planet Waves is not bad at all. Frankly I think Dylan is well represented on SACD and there are some things about the Sony ones that are a bit better than the MFSL ones. Wish MFSL would move along and maybe do Spirit - 12 Dreams or some of the other Columbia records that aren't represented on SACD.
Nah, I'm hoping they stay stuck on the Dylan catalog. I personally don't feel any aspect of the Sony SACDs is better than a MFSL SACD. All winners in my book and I want all they have planned and more. I'm not a Spirit fan so keep on the Dylan and Miles catalogs.
Interesting that the s/t Mofi SACD has hard stereo panning and not "narrow" stereo like the 2005 remaster. Narrow stereo was used for the MoFi SACD of The Times They Are A-Changin' if I'm not mistaken. Maybe there is no true stereo mix of that album?
MFSL is releasing Greatest Hits on 45 RPM vinyl up next. I don't even recall seeing that on the list of titles they were planning to release on SACD. It all gets more confusinger and confusinger.
I just bought Planet Waves and New Morning today. On my first listen now. I've never been a huge fan of either record but I'm super happy with the sound of the Planet Waves record so far. It was a good purchase. I've decided not to buy Bob Dylan or John Wesley Harding because I feel like they sound better in mono. I have Freewheelin', The Times and Another Side and wish they were in mono. Oh well. They are nice to play occasionally though. Anyone pulled the trigger on Nashville Skyline yet? I haven't seen it in a store and kind of like the thrill of finding something in a store.
My "Planet Waves" and "Highway 61 Revisited"MFSL SACDs have shipped from Music Direct. Anyone else receive theirs yet? Surprise there isn't more buzz about these...
Can you post who is listed as mastering each? And tell us all about the glory of the booklets, of course.
Thank you. Since you have no gear profile listed, I have to assume you're listening to the internal speaker on a ten year old laptop. But what do you think of the sound of Highway 61? I've got Planet Waves on the way, but I skipped Highway 61 for now as I have the DCC.
Which DCC, the Japan or USA? Wasn't there supposedly a slight change on the USA with regards to EQ? Oops , never mind.
