Awesome. "...an intimate setting as he performs songs from his extensive body of work, created especially for this event." What an unusual way to phrase it, "created especially for this event." Makes me wonder what precisely that means. Different band lineup? Wondering, too, if he'll do any songs from Rough & Rowdy Ways. That album is so perfect in my mind that I almost hope he doesn't try anything different with them. Although there's the chance that a live performance of a song like "Key West" would make it even more transcendent.
Yes!!!!!! Very uncharacteristic of Bob to do a recorded show but I will take it. Dylan is itching to play live---love it!
My guess is that it will be something like that, with acoustic arrangements and more deep tracks, less of the jammy stretching out that he does onstage. More of a fully considered single show than "the one you happen to get tonight." As for the spoken autobiography though, none of that.
I bought a ticket and it states July 18th, 10pm. It seems to be an internatioal option for purchasing a ticket.
I wonder if this concert will be live or pre-recorded performances (with or without an audience). If there will be set-pieces or settings like, you know, Elvis's 1968 Comeback Special.
Oh, and it’s interesting that this performance was given a name. Shadow Kingdom. I mean, it wasn’t called some pro forma name like “Bob Dylan Live.”
Shame it’s light on details such as length and , knowing Bob, the camera will be 3 miles away and it will be shot in the dark peace and love✌Dave
Could not be more excited for this! I'm frankly amazed he hasn't posted tour dates in the US yet. I worry now he's used to not being on the road!
I agree it would be wildly uncharacteristic and strange for him to do Springsteen-on-Broadway style storytelling on stage. But I would have said the same about "write an epic about the Kennedy assassination" before he did it. And I'm imagining his Theme Time Radio Hour voice and style, maybe a bit more heavy on comedy and irony than Bruce was, and well WERE he to do it, it would be really cool. Even if he went for that sixties Playboy interview style made up absurdity.
I hit the thread thinking it was announcing a new Dylan LP called SHADOW KINGDOM and man that would have been a great Dylan LP title, so disappointed really.
Wow, I'm in! At least I won't have to worry about someone standing in front of my wheelchair for once.
