That seems plausible to me given that they had Danny Boyle working on the film and let him go over "creative differences". I guess it sort of depends how much they had when they got the new director on board and how much of the stuff is being done as they film. I guess it's not unusual to re-write the film as they go along or even write the film as they go along. Though I hope it's because this is a way of working that they are used to and not because they heard that the latest Mission Impossible movie was made that way because Christopher McQuarrie wanted to write the scenes based off of a really good looking location rather than having them look for a location to fit the script.

Something not right about the Macbeth Bond ie a Jonah:new film ..aka Bond 25. skip the cast of Bond 25, Oh oh forget about it.. and get a new Bond, new cast new beginning, for Bond ground zero. Preferably male actor!!!

Part of the problem is that Boyle came with his own writer and a pre-conceived story overview, which he apparently took with him. So when Boyle dropped out they were back at Square One.

Edit - looks like CraigBic already stated this :)

Would agree. But modern audiences are lapping DC‘s Bond up. Whereas in the past Bond was controlling women, now it’s the other way about, women are controlling Bond treating him as a sex object.

Casino Royale was that film... shorting the stock market and parkour chases replacing nuclear weapons and ice palaces.

The main part of the problem is this; Spectre (whatever you think of it) was released in late 2015... they didn't even hire new writers to begin work on Bond 25 until they signed up Purvis/Wade in March 2017, what the fudge were EON doing for the whole of 2016???

Anyhoo, P/W worked on a prospective script for a whole year until Danny Boyle came on board in March 2018 and P/W's script was dumped. Boyle worked on his own idea for five months only to leave again that August because he was loyal to screenwriter John Hodge when EON weren't happy with what the latter was coming up with - even though they knew and were enthusiastic about the idea he and Boyle had before both officially signed on - and tried to bring someone else in. They went back to P/W's draft when Cary Fukanaga signed on the following month, and they've been continually polishing/re-writing it ever since.

If Cubby was still around, they'd have already knocked out one 007 film and working on the next right now in the same span of time...

Boyle wanted to kill Bond off, script wise for DC Bond, that is for Bond 25. DC and Barbara Broccoli was against that.

Yes, and let's not forget all the Sony/Ericson gadgets (including the Blu-ray player in the hotel surveillance room) and the focus on terrorism. Product placement was taken to another level.

I wouldn't say that - they've made some great entries in the series, and I think they're certainly competent producers. It's hard not to argue the series is at a low point right now (as it was during various parts of Cubby's tenure), but I think the Bond series is in better hands with Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson than it would be with Disney or whatever other big name company would buy the rights.

Of course this is being reported as if she is replacing Craig as James Bond and defensive white men are losing their minds.

She’s just playing a supporting role as an agent who was assigned the number 007 after Bond resigned in Spectre. The movie is not about her character, nor is she going to be the star of the series going forward.

Cubby (with or without Saltzman) was able to make a Bond movie a year and, later, every other year. 4 year gap between "Quantum of Solace" and "Skyfall", and almost 5 years between "Spectre" and "Bond 25"? No reasons for that.

Warners were able to make 8 massive Harry Potter films in ten years.

Bond 25 will be Craig's fifth and final one. In 14 years. Five Bond films in 14 years. Also, some questionable casting choices by Broccoli and Wilson, and the masochistic reconfirm of Purvis and Wade. :shake:

Pity CR was brilliant, can’t say the same for the four that followed.

They all seem on an equal plane to me. Perhaps Skyfall is a step back, but a lot of people thought it was Craig's best. I actually thought QoS was the strongest, but a lot of people hated it. Go figure.

Bond will stay retired with Swann on an island sipping martinis and then pull a Luke Skywalker and wait until everyone is dead and then have Q send a hologram of him to distract the villain while Moneypenny and the new female 007 escape for the next film.

Cubby - both without and without Saltzman - was largely able to knock out a Bond movie every other year for 27 years and maintain a pretty consistent level of overall quality, which is an impressive achievement by any standard.

But with regards The Craig's number of 007 films relative to the length of his tenure, there are some extenuating circumstances to consider; there was two years between CR and QoS - had Sony got their way, it would have been eighteen months! - but thanks to MGM's then-impending bankruptcy, the third Craig instalment - which of course became Skyfall - was necessarily delayed by two further years, four years in total since it's predecessor. Spectre was released three years after that, and quite frankly, they should have given it another year for writing and prep, that chicken was undercooked and badly needed a little more time in the oven, it has to be said.

They wasted a whole year with this upcoming film's development process; what EON were doing for the whole of 2016 is beyond me, they didn't even hire Purvis/Wade until March 2017... seventeen freakin' months after Spectre's UK theatrical release in late October 2015... Whiskey Tango Foxtrot!!!

And that's not even including the whole Danny Boyle saga, which put it back another few months from it's original late October (UK)/early November (US) 2019 release date.

I had a great time watching it and dug it overall... bright, breezy, hugely enjoyable, eminently watchable, it wasn't Shakespeare but it didn't try to be... who would have thought that (a surprisingly very funny) Ben Mendelson and a cat would steal the show completely!?

That being said, I've zero interest in a sequel... she served her purpose leading into and being part of Endgame.
