Okay, I'll give it credit; visually, it looks very impressive... but I was burned by it's wretched predecessor, so forgive me if I proceed a little more cautiously this time - and I'm speaking as a huge and lifelong 007 movie fan - it looks to be almost a quasi-sequel to Spectre... let's hope it does something interesting enough to redeem the latter.... but hey, if 24 can come back from it's infamous sixth season and Mission: Impossible can rebound from it's dead dog of a second installment, then Bond can bring it home one last time after the nadir of the entire series. Here's to a great final installment for both The Craig - who's looking impressively fit in this outing - and the franchise as a whole... after that, I'm done with Bond.
Honestly, I can't tell by a clip but if it even sucked I'd still go see it. If I don't like it then I won't watch it again, if I do then I'll watch it over and over as I do with Bond films.
I always like the trailers. Daniel Clueless looks more gorilla -ish than ever and too big for the Aston-Martin. The presence of Christopher Walz doing Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lector is creatively bankrupt and too twisted for a Bond movie. Love the European locations in the trailer, as always.
Thanks for replying The Hermit. “over and over again “ At least not with DC Bonds, guess first two are alright.
Trailers are the "online profile" for movies - a collection of all the best shots in all the coolest places - so good luck to anyone gauging the quality of a film from one, let alone the 25th James Bond movie. That said, I thought the trailer for No Time To Die was a very good minute plus of Bond. The location work was top shelf, the stunt work solid, and the cinematography rich and colorful. Of the plot...who knows? Much as I like Daniel Craig as Bond, I don't think he's been well served by the series' current fetish for continuity or emotional trauma. I would have preferred Craig's last 007 to be a straight forward independent adventure, without having to close plot loopholes leftover from previous films. Make me miss the days when Blofeld or even Bond would turn up as an entirely different actor and we'd all keep munching our popcorn as it was simply business as usual. I hope this is a good one and Craig goes out with a bang. After that, I hope the Bond movies are more Dr. No...and less Dr. Phil.
doens't look bad, but it does come across as rather generic. Perhaps that is intentional, so I am hopeful its better than this trailer suggests. I doubt the producers would have hired director Cary Joji Fukunaga unless they wanted some artistry and attiude.
Your taste is beyond dispute, my good man... never let that be questioned . Honestly, I don't know what to think yet... it's only a single trailer (remember how truly great The Phantom Menace teaser was? And look at how THAT film turned out!); the cinematography looks nice, the action looks decent, Craig seems engaged... I'll give it a shot once it's released, but my expectations are tempered, I'll say that much... Spectre was a dead dog of a Bond movie, and frankly I'm getting a little bored of the franchise now, there's only so much you can do with that character and it appears they done it already... 25 movies over 58 years is a helluva run by any standard and let's face it, they'll never do another movie as good as Casino Royale or even OHMSS again. Once The Craig bows out of the franchise, I think I'll be joining him... Dude, I have a life outside of this forum. Also, I was drunk... y'know, priorities ...
Casino Royale and Skyfall were great, whereas Quantum of Solace and Spectre were both underwhelming. I guess this'll be my tie-breaker for Craig's Bond films. I think he's been great, but not consistently served with material of equal quality. Trailer gives me a lot of hope for No Time To Die, but trailers can be misleading...
I dont know what you're all complaining about... the trailer looks great, I'll be seeing this one in the cinema for sure. Then again, this wouldn't be a true SHF thread without a bunch of crotchety old buzzkills criticizing and whining about something that hasn't even been released yet.
There were actually a couple of funny moments in the trailer that made me smile... the humor was very dry, but it's there.
I don't know. Some relatively unknown but experienced Brit who meets the qualifications like Connery, Lazenby, Moore, Dalton and Brosnan did. My mind is open and receptive to a new, young actor be 007. I'd like to see a Bond in his mid-to-late twenties for a change. Someone who will take good care of the character. Most of all I'd like to see good writing and straight-forward plotting. I'd like to see a new Bond entertainment every two years by a team that knows how to make them. I could write up a list of things I don't want to see more easily. brocc Most of all I'd like to see good writing and direction, and no political agendas to muck up the story.
Seems rather difficult to accomplish with the hero being a secret agent working on behalf of a government, often committing violent acts in the process. Get too far outside reality and you end up with a Moonraker or Die Another Day. I do like the idea of a younger Bond. Connery was apparently 30 when cast as Bond so somewhere +/- 5 years of that would be a good start. Craig's 38 is pushing it for the starting age of a Bond actor, but I don't have the hate-on for the guy that you seem to
