I never saw Justice League because why would I. So this is the first time I have seen the CGI and it really is terrible. Also I just kind of want him to actually play an Englishman in a movie. Every movie I have seen him in he plays an American.
Thumbs up: Jeffrey Wright returns as Felix Leiter Thumbs down: No title announcement Tentative thumbs up: Rami Malek as Bond's nemesis Tentative thumbs up: No Christoph Waltz (Lea Seydoux is back, so there is some continuity, but hopefully they'll say Hannibal Lechter got Blofeld to eat his own tongue or something) Thumbs up: Ana de Armas
Bring It. After a relentless parade of superhero movies, I'm ready for James F***ing Bond. That said, I hope they're not attempting a soft remake of On Her Majesty's Secret Service, what with Lea Seydoux coming back to the fold. I also wouldn't rule out the return of Christoph Waltz just yet, given the unfinished business from SPECTRE (and the return of Seydoux). Waltz as Oberhauser as Blofeld wasn't that much of a surprise and the filmmakers may be holding their cards closer to their chest this time around. ...I am excited about Rami Malek as the villain, though. I hope the writers give him a role worthy of his talent and plenty of meaty scenes with Daniel Craig. And Jeffrey Wright's back, too? Excellent. So far...so good.
Please, more Jeffrey. Pretty please. I've always been baffled as to why the producers haven't tried to expand the Bond universe around Felix.
I'm really glad to see Jeffrey Wright will be back as Felix and that Lea Seydoux will be back. Also, I'm really like Ana de Armas, so that's a big thumbs up from me.
Yeah, I don't know about this. The press conference (if it can even be described as that) was really underwhelming and not terribly reassuring given all the uncertainty around this project. Craig looked really bored and I can't blame him. The Craig movies seem obsessed with tying everything together and having Bond retire or attempt to quit MI6, and I don't think this one is going to break from either pattern.
Much as I'm looking forward to the movie, I agree wholeheartedly with the above. SPECTRE had a more formal rollout, with director Sam Mendes revealing the full cast and the film's name - and by comparison the official start of Bond 25 was tentative at best. So much about the movie seems unsettled at the start of production - they're still hiring writers to polish up the script even as filming is already underway, which is never a good sign. Making movies isn't easy - especially epic James Bond movies - but the producers had over three years to pull a good script and a cast together and haven't been able to get out of their own way. Again, I'm not saying making Bond movies is a smooth and simple process, but it's all EON does - they don't have a stable of superheroes to balance or a universe of characters to weave together. Not even a single talking raccoon. As for Daniel Craig, I'll cut him some slack because he's got a new baby at home. Being James Bond is a cushy gig, but even that job sucks when you're a new Dad and want to stay home and keep building the nest around Mama and the tot...let alone fly to Jamaica and get shot at for hours on end. Props to EON for being flexible, though - they knew damn well Craig needed a break after SPECTRE and gave him the space to do whatever he wanted, which is most likely why he's back for one more (and, given that tot needs to go to college, one more seriously good payday).
I would never ever say being James Bond is a cushy gig. I think it may be one of the hardest considering everything that is involved imo of course.
Agreed 100% Craig should have left for good when he promised, after Spectre. They made him a producer too. Wtf? It seems they're just waiting for him to be ready. Somebody like Mr Cubby Broccoli would have shown him the door a long ago... EON could have released a new film in 2017 and another one in 2019 with a new actor. As for Malek, imho not menacing enough to be a Bond villain. Furthermore, Craig has aged a lot. And badly. That's him in 2012 ....God knows how much they're going to spend to make him look decent in Bond 25 If EON wanted another blond Bond, they could have hired Jeremy Renner; not much younger than Craig, but in much better shape
Tempering my expectations right now. Jeffrey Wright makes me hopeful, though, I still wish Olga Kurylenko's character could make a return as well. Probably in the minority, but I'm not particularly infatuated with Seydoux.
I think they should use the '67 Casino Royale casting philosophy and have Chris Hemsworth, Chris Pine, Chris Evans and Chris Pratt all play characters named James Bond. Or even better, have them take turns playing one James Bond, alternating scene by scene or even shot by shot.
