  1. Thanks for the tip. $43 is a bit steep but I pre-ordered it anyway.

True - but Vol 1 also retailed at $40, Real Gone did a nice job on it, and it’s now harder to find a new sealed copy at a decent price. Happily preordered.

I've gone with the CD version, to accompany volume 1 which I recently bought on CD. Thanks @John Fell!

    Welcome indeed.

BUT it should be pointed out that the last 4 songs (the last 2 singles) was just "The MGs" (as they were billed) without both Booker T and Steve Cropper. So those tracks are sort of anomalies with just Donald "Duck" Dunn and Al Jackson (and with the Stax-affiliated Bobby Manuel and Carson Whitsett replacing Cropper and Jones, respectively). The tracks are:
    17. Sugarcane
    18. Blackside
    19. Neckbone
    20. Breezy

Correct but still released by Stax which probably why they included it. There are some cool single sides on this which did not appear on their regular lps from this period. I think there are 5 tracks if I counted correctly which did not appear on their regular lp releases.

    Soul Clap '69
    Slum Baby
    Meditation
    Sunday Sermon
    Jamaica This Morning

Also "Breezy" is a non-LP B-side --- although just Duck Dunn and Al Jackson as "The MGs" (as mentioned in the post #57).

Cool, that will be another track I don't have already. I never had the MG's album to know which tracks were on that one.

  11. That first volume was nothing short of terrific. I'd love to see Steve Cropper in concert. I'd drive 200 miles to see him live if I could....

Got one on order at at a local, will be in Thursday.

I see Vol 1 is coming out again. The sticker said limited to 1000 the first time around. If there’s demand tho, I’m glad they pressed more

Just received my Vol 2 and really enjoying it, naturally…

  21. Mine is set to ship any day now. I feel badly for the folks who don't get this straight away because it will sell out for sure and the vampires in the secondary market will drive up the price for it.

Got CD versions of both Volume 1 & 2 from Real Gone yesterday. They sound phenomenal. Totally worth it.

Almost forgot to order Volume 2. Just grabbed it from Amazon for $36.99 and arrives Sunday. Got Volume 1 (blue vinyl version), so I had to get Vol 2 as well...hope the sound compares to Volume 1...

  25. I've listened to my copy twice already. The sound quality is great and there's enough b sides to make this feel engaging.
