Trying to downsize the footprint of my system. Currently using Klipsch Reference floor standing speakers but they are pretty big for the music room (14x14). Any suggestions would be appreciated. I have an old Sansui AU-717 amp that someone gave me.

Like I keep recommending for bookshelf speakers - NHT SuperOne 2.1's.

Vinyl collection runs from blues and soul to punk. A lot of classic rock and post-punk in-between. Cowboy Junkies the band that gets the most spins and then probably Bowie.

I like it -- nice variety! :) I am very similar with crossing up all eras and genres....

Do you know much about the current state of the AU-717? Is it restored or recapped, have you had a chance to inspect and audition? It's a fine vintage amp, and can run vintage speakers nicely too.... Just make sure you go full on old school and get the TU-717 to match, it's a fine tuner. Whether or not you listen to local / analog broadcasts, you have to get it just because it looks cool! :)

By the way, I just sold a pair of Klipsch Reference RP-280FA's that were my mains a couple of years ago for a short time.... they were pretty good, not bad for a mainstream consumer Klipsch.

I have the TU-719. The chef at my restaurant gave me both. He had them since he was a teen. No work done on them as everything works so far. Looked clean inside when I opened it up.
