I don't normally give a damn about what a film costs to make... because my ticket prices is the same no matter what. But this film had no stars, so no big "above-the-line" expenses. So it will probably be in the black this weekend. Of course a giant Disney live action film is going to do better than a teen comedy. Duh.

Except a lot fewer murders. I don't think there is any murders in it at all. Okay, the one at the gay kid's murder mystery party. But that was fake.

I recommend this film to anyone except people who are offended by the very idea that gay people exist.

I did not know she was going to be in that.

This is the first time I've seen her, and once you know the relationship it's impossible to miss it in her eyes. So sad that she lost both her mother and her grandmother a couple of days apart - she has Carrie's eyes and Debbie's nose.

Whether it does well in the theater or not, this is going to become one of those hangout movies for me (to borrow Quentin Tarantino's phrase) - films you watch just because you like hanging out with the characters.

Yep, even if it doesn’t do well now, it eventually will find its audience.

Yeah everybody is all hyped about the first weekend these days, as if they owned a studio. I just care that it does well enough that Olivia Wilde is able to direct other movies, because this worked wonderfully for me.

Very LA, but had some very funny moments.

The pizza guy heist, wow. Best part.

A lot of the characters reminded me of people I knew in high school, so job well done there too.

    Great duo.

I wonder if Billie Lourde channeled any of her character from her mom?

Don't forget, her dad was head of CAA, the most powerful agency in Hollywood. So yeah, she was definitely a "one percenter." I saw an interview with her last night, and she said she drew upon all of the most insane bar/bat mitzvah behavior she'd seen him on all of her friends.

Good soundtrack by the way, including one of my current favorite bands - Rhye.

The real underperforming movie, that actually is not bad is, The Sun Is Also A Star.

The production budget was 9M and it has only brought in 4.9M after two weekends.

It is an enjoyable movie and cleverly written. It is based on a book.

Go see the dog movie too. I think you both will like it even better, I did.

One of the problems with selling this movie might be the poster. This image does not say "comedy."

Yeah I think this was a case of being too hip for their own good.

Or cautious. Maybe they aren't overly eager to advertise that it is not the type of romantic comedy that you would find Meg Ryan making.

It's more of a "teen sex comedy for the 21st century."

It’s not to say we, as in the public, wasn’t ready for one. It’s time to take a look at Revenge Of The Nerds for today’s audiences. Which is basically what they got, in the 24 hour time frame storytelling.

    So, I saw this today.....and......
dare I say, BETTER than "Superbad"!!
I was surprised that the 'millennial' aspects didn't bother me as much as I though they would've.
It's got a Handsome Boy Modeling School song in it, so, it's got me in its corner right there!
Unlike the 'boy' version(s) of this kind of movie, I was impressed when it 'got real' in the climax.
Sadly, the fact that everybody was filming the 'meltdown' didn't come back to bite anybody in the a$$, but, you know what?.... That's a small complaint for an otherwise nicely done film...
    Kudos to all involved!

The outstanding @Booksmart lives up to all the hype! Flick featured an excellent cast with two breakout leads, a very funny script, and ace direction. Will Forte's salami joke delivery is still making me laugh nearly 24 hrs later. The guy's a national treasure, as is this flick.
