Hope the political humour is done in such a way that most of the film is funny beyond 2020.

0:22 - 0:40 is February 2020 news footage of SBC dressed as the 45th president being kicked out of Pence CPAC speech. Only the 26 seconds I indicated is relevant to this thread, so please disregard to keep it inside forum rules. There's a couple other Borat clips from the past year out there. Driving in car, Kimmel, the rally in Oregon.

I remember seeing the original at a 5pm showing. It was mostly older adults with white hair not laughing at all and my friend and I were bursting inside trying not to laugh lol.

Oh god, now everyone's going to be saying things from the movie thinking they're being really clever like the first movie or Austin Powers. Aggggh....

Ah, to be a teenager again. I laughed at the first one but if I had seen it at age 14 I would have busted a couple of ribs. Still gonna watch it fo sho.

Soon after it was released theatrically the Vancouver Jewish Film Festival had it as their headlining feature. For obvious reasons, the movie was followed by a discussion with 2 scholars present to put the comedy/subversive/offensive qualities of the film in some context.

That would have been interesting audience to see who laughed and when.

The film clearly is making fun of anti Semites.

Slightly surprised, given Baron insisted for years the first was a one-off.

Well, guess what: It seems The Ukraine Conspiracy was a touchstone
for the new material. Borat is the perfect character to satirize that.

    To Watch this weekend!

On a serious note, he penned an op-ed for "Time", out last week, that
is how I learned about this film.

How many here have “adjusted their shirt” while laying on a bed?

    Didn’t think so.

Why try to not laugh? It's a comedy. If they don't find something funny, that's their problem.

The scenario you describe was the same, except it was on a Sunday for me and I was the only one who was laughing.

    Good times, good times.

The Halloween Store scene was filmed less than a mile from my house.

I saw the first one in the theater in my fifties... and laughed myself sick.

I'm not saying I was proud of laughing myself sick, but that's the truth.

I laughed my b***s off at the first one but I have to say the trailer for this doesn't look great.

That's how I felt -- Cohen can be flat hilarious, Borat as a character was great idea, but...sequels...

    We'll see.

The only other time I’ve had that experience was seeing a matinee of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo in a really nice part of Los Angelos. Lots of gasping type sounds of shock and horror from the mostly older crowd who hadn’t read the book.

Went to this movie on a date not knowing anything about it. Imagine that. It was all strange, really. The Swedish tourism board must have had some kind of tie in with it. 'Visit Sweden' flyers everywhere

Saw the first one and found certain situations kinda' cringe worthy especially what appears to be the locals who don't know what to make of Borat's behavior and look clueless about being in on his humor. But the idea for each encounter is what made me laugh the most. Probably one of the most cleverest way to use a movie to point out and laugh at modern sociopolitical issues.

The rubber forearm and fist sex toy used as a prosthetic arm on one of Borat's amputee relatives too poor to afford a real prosthetic made me lose it in the theater. I hope there's one of those social truths revealed in Borat 2.

    Watching it now.

I haven't even watched the whole first Borat movie, and honestly I'm not interested in it by itself but it seems important to see with all that's going on at the moment.
