Bob Dylan - 1966 Recordings, Mile Davis Quintet - Freedom Jazz Dance, Free - Vinyl box-set, Porcupine Tree - The Delerium Years (both boxes) are my current most played of the recent boxes.

The recent Steve Hillage, Chris Wood, and Streetwalkers box sets are all fantastic! Lots of unreleased goodies and GREAT coffee table type books. They are A bit pricy but you know these will be hard to come by a few years from now.

Spirit of Joy -Tales from Polydor Underground 67-74 is a really enjoyable set. Similar 3 cd box sets from Island, Liberty, Charisma, Decca, Vertigo labels are all great too.

At a bargain price with good mastering and relevant bonus tracks, the first 6 Simple Minds 1979-82 albums....all predating "Don't You (Forget About Me)".
Many of us fans already had these albums, but still a worthwhile purchase. For the "new" fan it's a treasure trove.

I didn't get it, no. You mean the 2 disc set?

  10. "Immersion - Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd"
    Shmaltzy schlock & packaging notwithstanding.
Blu-ray Disc 5. Original Quad Mix - 24/96 5.1 mix - British, French, & North American Concert Screen Films
CD Disc 6. Demo for "Money" - "The Travelling Sequence" - '72 pre release mix

If not enough or to much $$$ for someone, get it!

i would have paid sets price just for Concert Films w/HD sound.

Let's not forget the awesome original mix by Alan Parsons. And that solo piece by Wright is to die for!

Don't know if this has been mentioned yet but the "Fleetwood Mac Blue Horizon" box set was done with real love and care and is fantastic, only wish the Reprise stuff (with Peter Green) was included.

There is a danger of this thread turning into a shopping list if I don't distract myself with something else. I bought This Is BB King and The Doors at the Matrix boxes after seeing them posted here, and if I could afford The Grateful Dead Around the Sun Box I'd have that, too.

Meanwhile, I have to get this set any which way I can:

    Wow.

The Reprise Collection 1990 is pretty limited for the era it's covering but for the casual fan it's not too bad.

The Essential 60s Masters is complete for non movie secular recordings.
Essential 70s is missing a few good tracks but not a disappointment.

Original Singles Collection is a darn good affordable box with everything commercially released shy of Luke the Drifter material.

I love musical segments that pedal on a single note or a singular tonality and move around the voicings available for that tonality. Fairly simple, yet brilliant.

You'd hope the cds have at least fixed the 2 second gaps that were present on the last masterings between songs that were supposed to segue...

Agreed, although I would hardly describe every song recorded at Reprise in chr0nological order as being for the casual fan. I have the suitcase edition. It has always upset me that hardcover book inside came without its dust jacket.

Agreed. These box-sets were the first Elvis I bought since the 1970s and helped to put his music in perspective for me. Now I've got an entire bookcase devoted to Elvis CDs and some books.

True, and I own the original square box edition, but I didn't list it because the songs are also in the The Complete box and I didn't want to be a hog and repetitious at the same time.
