Jenkins was, by far, the most trying thing in that movie. He’s a good actor and pulled off the “tries real hard loyal old guy” well, but it does wear thin.

I’m not sure about the Banshee connection. I’m thinking no, but definitely some common actors in Zahler’s movies and that show. Originally, BT was supposed to have had Timothy Olyphant in Matthew Fox role and Jennifer Carpenter in the Lili Simmons role, but it didn’t work out. Agree about Simmons. Yowza!

The guy you’re talking about is Geno Segers who played Chayton Littlestone in Banshee. He’s also in Bone Tomahawk as one of the “troglodytes”. He’s muscular but not very tall. Vaughn is 6’5” I think?

This is how Geno Segers looked in Banshee:

Like he was just way bigger than everyone else and Vaughn towered over him in Block 99. At one point, in the movie, a couple of guards were saying 6'5", when they were talking about him as he walked into the room. I guess I really like that aspect of the movie and think Vaughn's size was perfect, especially after watching all of Banshee and realizing the lead was a really tiny dude, shorter than Geno.

I always remember a scene from the movie Collateral where Tom Cruise tackles Jamie Foxx and it's so apparent that he's so much shorter. It's like, really? Tom Cuise's character won that fight? Stallone and Dolph Lundgren.

And, I'm beating a dead horse, now.

Yeah, but, like, Tom was, like, a trained assassin, ya know?

I’m beating the same dead horse. :)

Geno Segers - listed at 6"3. Looks huge in Banshee, like 250lbs.

Brawl 99 and Banshee both had shockingly grusome violent fight scenes. The third episode of Banshee where the sheriff and MMA Guy fight in front of the whole town was the most grusome fight scene I've seen in a tv series.

That was one of my favorite fight scenes from that show. Brutal as hell.

The jail fight scene with the albino was another brutal one lol! Joesph Gatt who plays the albino looks like a WWF in Banshee. He's in the new HBO show Barry looking much thinner.

I agree. He looked really big. After seeing him in in Block 99 with Vaughn, who towered over everyone, I would have never guessed him to be 6'3".

I liked Don Johnson's performance. I really didn't recognize who it was, because I'm not a huge DJ follower, but I really liked the slightly humorous, matter of fact, sadistic warden.

    S. Craig Zahler seems to really know how to tap into an actor's potential for his crazy movies.

I think they were supposed to, an homage to cheap effects from b-flicks of the past.

Agreed. It was pretty fun. Definitely one of the better movies he's been in. The other non-schticky film he was good in, Into The Wild (even though that flick was at best "ok" for me.)

First 40 mins snooze fest. And what's the explanation about his head tattoo?

No explanation of the tattoo other than Bradley finds religion after going straight and trying to keep a real job after working with Gil.

I enjoyed “Into the Wild” but I loved the book and have read it at least three times.

You like the book that much? I've not seen the movie (it's in my Netflix queue) or read the book. I know Jon Krakauer is no slouch.

I loved three of his books: “Into the Wild”, “Into Thin Air”, and “Under the Banner of Heaven”. I’ve read each multiple times. I can’t speak to his others.

S2 had a lot of problems. Vaughn had some painfully bad dialogue in it. It just wasn’t very good.

I'm going to be needing something new to read, soon. I'll pick up a copy of Into the Wild and check it out. Thanks for the recommendation.
