Once something has been brickwalled, sound is destroyed. You can't get that back.

I haven't tried this but I'm interested as to why people feel they can hear an improvement whereas others feel that once the music has been destroyed, you can't get it back. What are people hearing if they think it's better? To the people who say you can't get it back, is this based on personal experience or objective analysis?

Try it yourself and you'll be able to hear what is bring discussed.

Personally, I find that sort of tinkering to sound unnatural and frankly really quote terrible.

I've processed a couple files using Waves C4 "UNcompressor" setting with surprisingly good results.

You can clean up the distortion, but you cannot restore the dynamics to what they were before they were destroyed, and, yes, I have de-clipping on at least four brands of software and plugins, and have used them.
