It works both ways - I bought a rare book (not especially valuable but exceptionally rare) from a US seller not selling to the UK and had to have it sent to a pal in the US, who got it to me from there.

  3. Can't be arsed, too much hassle. Don't sell much these days. Easier to take it to the local shop / market and get a bit less without the hassle of dealing with idiots. If it's going to go for a fair few quid I'll use ebay or fbmarketplace.

Since over 90% of the music I buy is British I used to rely on buying from the UK. Now there’s quite a few that won’t ship to the US and so many others are 18 pounds shipping for one lp and even for a cd so I spend a lot more time than I’d like looking through until I can find one with decent shipping.

Especially 90s UK singles. Oh my god. I’ll lick my chops at the prices in the UK for the singles, but the shipping will cancel it out, whereas sellers here in the US seem to think the going rate for a single by an obscure 90s UK indie band is the same as it was in 1996. The sellers that seem to have the most cd singles here in the states also want 6-10 dollars and up for a single. There’s a reason I’ve seen the same CDs with the same sellers for years. Nobody’s paying those ridiculous prices

I've noticed lately that shipping from the UK can sometimes cost as much if not more than the item itself. There are quite a few good UK sellers for US buyers, but some are also making sales cost prohibitive. I'm only talking about jazz imports, I have no idea with other types of music.

The UK, a veritable Aladdin’s cave of pristine vinyl. There seems to hardly ever be a record graded less than Ex/Ex…

I no longer buy nor sell internationally. It just became too much of a hassle and inconvenience.

I have noticed that. Pay heavy for that UK/Euro domestically or get hit with massive shipping costs. My CD Single/12 Inch purchases have slowed down quite a bit due to shipping costs. If applicable I try to buy from Germany/Netherlands/France.

Don't sell oversea. In auctions the next bid under the winner is usually from the U.S. and a buck or 2 cheaper. Exchange rate is horrific. The global shipping program is rip city to overseas buyers.

To my UK Forum friends, trust me, you have no idea how much more ridiculous shipping costs are in Canada. It has literally crushed my sales from 2017 on. It's so ridiculous it costs more to ship tracked and insured to a Canadian buyer than to a USA buyer. The rest of the planet is through the stratosphere.

I buy from EU only, and sell in Germany only. Everything else is too inconvienient for me as well. Of course, I don't buy or sell professionally, it's a hobby and supposed to be fun not work.

These are the reasons I stopped selling overseas before I stopped selling completely because of the outrageous change of the taxable sales minimum threshold from $20,000 to $600.

With such insane shipping charges (also from the US) coupled with all the various fees, it's too much of a financial risk if things not within a seller's control go wrong. And the selling & payment platforms still make their money from you anyway.

One could be forgiven for thinking the powers that be WANT small sellers & hobbyists to stop selling over the internet.
