    would top my list too

Great album that seems to encapsulate his many styles.
Also kind of jazzy and a top tier lyrics album!

Still some great performances on the 1990 Live CD. Especially Tibetan Side Of Town, and To Raise The Morning Star.

I just received a minty copy of "Further Adventures of" on original Canadian CBS/True North, I think I'd have to add this to the top seven and make it eight...really fabulous in vinyl!

The True North pressings are all great. Off the top of my head, though, i can’t remember a song from that album.

    In chronological order
    - High Winds, White Sky

    - In the Falling Dark
    - Dancing in the Dragon's Jaw
    - Inner City Front
    - Bruce Cockburn live ('89)
    - Speechless

Bruce is an extraordinary and truly underappreciated artist. His best work rivals fellow Canadians Joni Mitchell and Neil Young. His guitar virtuosity is remarkable. And his work has consistently evolved through different phases from simple celtic-inspired folk (his first 3-4 LPs), innovative singer/songwriter (Joy, Dark, Circles, FAO), acoustic rocker (DitDJ, Humans), punk-influenced rock (ICF, TwN), politically charged (SF, WoW, BCirc), roots rock (his unfortunate, musically-dumbed-down early-mid 90s albums) and so on. I don't think he's ever released a bad album; even disappointing ones included a few gems (Trouble w Normal, Tibetan Side of Town, Mon Chemin, Prenons la Mer, etc.) And his instrumentals are amazing - it's a shame he hasn't released them all. He performed a marvelous 9-minute (apparently unnamed) piece with violinist Hugh Marsh and the band during his 1980 DitDJ/Humans US swing that shows up on both the Boston (Paradise) and LI (My Father's Place) radio broadcasts. And he continues to write well into his 70s; his last album has several great cuts. And because of his smaller but devoted following, the conversation between this artist and his audience seems that much more personal.

Has anybody heard his new album? I haven't bought the last few albums. I have more than seven that I really enjoy. Pretty much everything from Sunwheel Dance thru You've Never Seen Everything.

Bone on Bone is pretty good. I think it’s one of his better ones in a while.

He has a new instrumental album coming out in September which could be interesting.

I enjoyed Bone on Bone. Closes with a couple of gospel numbers which is a new direction.

He has a new instrumental album coming out later this year.

Bruce is on the cover of the current issue of Acoustic Guitar Magazine. He played a Boucher Studio Goose OM hybrid guitar on much of the new album. An expensive acoutic guitar gifted to him at his induction into the Canadian Songwriters Hall Of Fame. He also used 12 string guitars and a Karol baritone guitar. I'll be looking forward to this release.

Interesting. Boucher have been trying to break into the high end guitar market. They come from that great community of Quebec guitar makers... Godin, Seagull, Simon & Patrick, etc. I see them struggling on resale, though, so Cockburn is a good endorsement for them. He’s played custom guitars by Linda Manzer since the 80s, so this is definitely a shift and puts Boucher on another level.

I think he still plays his Manzer guitars on the road. That Boucher he was given runs about 3,600 dollars. I could never understand paying that much for a flat top guitar. But since he got it as a gift, why not use it? He captured some nice acoustic guitar sounds on his last double live CD. I need to pull that one out for another listen.

Yeah, $3600 is on par with entry level guitars from all the high end boutique builders. Sounds crazy, but they go way up from there, and aren’t really out of line with professional level instruments from Martin, Gibson, and Taylor. Manzers are another level above that because they are individually made to order. Spend a bit of time here and you’ll start to see the value in these instruments... even if it means selling a kidney:
Acoustic Guitars - Collings Guitars - Martin Guitars - Taylor Guitars - Finely Crafted Banjos & Mandolins

Back to Bruce... the double live is excellent except for the annoying buzz all the way through.

I love Bruce Cockburn and have most of his releases on CD.

If pressed, here's 7 absolute essentials (but you need more overall because he's had such a rich and varied career)

Dancing In The Dragon's Jaws (1979)
    Humans (1980)
    Inner City front (1981)
    Stealing Fire (1984)
Nothing But A Burning Light (1991)
    The Charity Of Night (1997)
    Bone On Bone (2017)
