This is my favorite Bruce live recording but it has rather high dynamic compression on CD, FLAC etc.

I'm considering buying the vinyl edition that came a few years ago. Does anyone own this and know if the DR ratings are better than the CD? Any feedback would be appreciated as I would be very upset if I purchased it to find it was essentially the same master.

I have checked here and there is no DR score for the Vinyl edition:

Fingers crossed the vinyl is better :)

I don't know the DR values for the vinyl set, but what I can tell you is that on my system and with my ears the vinyl is a lot more dynamic, it is certainly not fatiguing on the ears like the CD is, it breathes and it has life, if that makes sense.

Thanks hodgo - yes that certainly makes sense to me. Your comments echo the difference I hear between the CD and Vinyl version of Prince's Lotusflower album. Wouldn't dream of ever listening to the CD mastering again. Reckon a new vinyl purchase is in the cards :)

    No problem, happy to help.

You may want to hear the thoughts of a few others before taking the leap, because mine is only one opinion.

Do you have the DVD? How does the stereo PCM compare to the CD and Vinyl?

My DVD rip has DR numbers between 9-11, and sounds nice, but I can't remember if I ripped the stereo or 5.1 track to make it. (Back before I could measure DR values in JRiver I just ripped both and kept the one that sounded better to my ears).
