I hear you. I snagged two shows two weeks ago for the same price as this current release. Oh well. It is a professionally recorded 1975 show, probably worth the full price.
I do not recall, there may have been. A lot of people hoped for a Father's Day sale, but it did not happen.
Oh, sure. I just feel no great need to rush. I bought like 10 shows on Black Friday so I have plenty to tide me over until next November!
I almost pulled the trigger on one DSD with the sale, but decided that almost of all these shows are DSD from a PCM source (PCM to PCM or analog to PCM) anyway. What's the point? If they were just a couple of bucks more...maybe. But at 2x the price of hi-rez PCM? Pass.

IMO, this is easily in the top 5, some may argue THE best Archive release to date, not just because of the historical importance of the show and the outstanding performance by Bruce and the band, but the mix is actually quite good, by far Altschiller's best work on this series.
I’ve only listened to Goin Back. The mix is just beautiful. I think this is the first archive release from the classic period that captures Max’s kit properly. The 78 shows are great, but the snare sounds dead and the whole kit sounds like it’s miked to closely on all of those tapes. This recording is open and clear. The drums sound brilliant. The guitars are nice and loud, but they don’t drown out the piano.
Sadly that is never gonna happen with this series. Take it for what it is. Still better than the vintage audience tapes we used to have to download or trade for, or worse, buy as "imports" for $30 a disc.
Unless we get more Clearmountain mixes. They come with better mastering. And I think we will. I'm sure he mixed all three Passaic show. Don't make sense to bring him in to just mix the middle show. I hope he did both Winterland shows as well
Yes, Roxy '75 is loud, but not all the time loud like Philly '75. The slower parts when there's no loud guitars and the band plays a bit softer sounds very nice. But would it kill them to master it more in line with Tempe '80 and Passaic '78?
Like Roxy 78 the compression has been largely applied to the right channel only so perhaps done to get some instruments separated wider on the right channel. DR numbers give an indication whether compression has been used but should give totally different numbers if run on the left channel only.
Yeah - I’m totally baffled by this. The left channel looks great - the right is brickwalled. Same deal with Roxy 78. I’ve been trying to reduce amplify and declip the right channel. I know I can’t really get back those dynamics but I pretend it’s a little less fatiguing.
No - I believe it is on some others as well but the Roxy shows are where people have most expressed concern. It is possible to sort of unpick the compression using the advanced version of iZotope RX but in doing so will lose a bit of right channel separation. I am still not convinced that the compression as applied here is really that big of a deal.
This is fast becoming a favorite of the live series. A tremendous concert. The best live performance of “Born To Run” I have heard.
