I have used this strange way to get my downloads with 25 % off with my current account now: nugs.net/bruce sign in click on "Listen Now" under "Stream Live Music & Download Concerts from Bruce Springsteen." change to some other websites and then I have found this website: Bruce Springsteen Now I could get the 25 % off and could get also previous or next shows.
This is a question bigger than the Springsteen archive, but if I were to sign up for one concert streaming service, is Nugs or Wolfgang’s a better bet?
Yup - especially since we've gone from the 50% off of a few years ago to 25% now. I mean, I get it. When they did annual 50% off sales, they know scores of punters would wait the year and then catch up on releases. 25% makes it more likely folks will buy at full price rather than wait - well, other than the truly cheap/patient among us! And now they add actual hoops to access the sale, which makes it even more likely people won't bother. I was fine with the weaker discount. I miss the 50% days, but 25% off is fair. Forcing us to have to sign up for some unwanted streaming service just to get to the sale is obnoxious, though.
I do not subscribe to the Nugs streaming service, not big on streaming concerts. I have purchased about 12 Bruce concerts already, all on CD. The last ones were purchased just this past May, can't remember the sale but the CDs were originally $23 and cost $15. Now it looks like the CDs have went up to $26.99 . Also My Nugs account is not showing any of my previous purchases at all. I have bought numerous Bruce (because of the sales) , Black Crowes, Magpie Salute, Gov't Mule CDs over the years.
Wolfgangs has a more diverse artist selection, lots of jazz. Nugs might be more consistent audio quality though.
Yep, consistently poorly mixed, loud and compressed, at least in the case of the Springsteen downloads.
Sounds good to my ears, and I find it a very enjoyable listen of a fantastic show. I'm not one though who lets numbers decide for me what to listen to, I let my ears decide. Your critera for what you listen to may vary.

The folks on the Backstreets message board are indicating it's a 2008 show. If so, I'm hoping it's Nashville, as that would finally break the spell that has prevented ANY of the concerts I've attended from being released as part of the archive series.
For anyone that signed up for the Nugs one month offer, today is the last day to purchase shows at a discount, which increases my interest in today's release. Normally I wait for a traditional BF discount or the 1/2 off MP3 offer and buy shows in bulk.
Um, why is this new show $18.99 instead of the $12.95 or whatever FLAC shows usually are? Wonder if it's an error or if Nugs is also doing dynamic pricing.
You beat me to it. The directive is You Shall Stream Rather Than Buy. UPDATE: The 25% discount is kicking in as a subscriber, which "lowers" the ALAC price to $14.99. Effing joke. I'm really curious as to who is driving this, whether it is Bruce and his team, Sony as the owner of his material, or Nugs as part of their effort to drive people to their streaming service.
Nah, I don't think that's it. The other shows still show the same prices. (Also they've been publicizing the addition of old Bruce archive releases to the streaming side, so I presume that means new releases aren't immediately available to stream?) I'd actually do their streaming thing if it could integrate into Apple music somehow instead of being a standalone app. That would require some cooperation between the two parties, but I'd be into it perhaps. (I can't last.fm scrobble from nugs, so that's also kind of a dealbreaker because i'm a statistics nerd)
I'll be doing neither. It's quite a big jump especially at a time when folks are struggling to pay their bills and put food on the table. Whatever working man thing Bruce had going is not looking good, what with this rise and the dynamic pricing crap, he and is management are showing how vastly out of touch and ignorant they are to the plight of many of his fans.
Nugs grows, offers more music, needs more servers, more space. Ain't free. Though I still think actual sales are very small.
I think it’s Sony. When Bruce sold his catalog, I think he was really selling us, his fanbase, to Sony. And now they’re squeezing every bit of revenue they can out of Bruce and his products. It’s there in the ticket prices. It’s there in this cruddy covers release. It’s here in in his archive prices. Yes, I could choose not to purchase any of these things, but dang it — I am just not ready to stop buying Bruce things, yet. Sony will continue making money off my Bruce buying habits a little while longer.
I'll wait and see if there's an "altered regular price" down the road. Would've purchased today at the "regular price" minus 25%, but I can hold off. Might end up paying the same price a year from now. Show's not so enticing that I'll fret, though.
