egad. Who is the market for this? Comparing Bruce to Dylan, in the past week Dylan released a fantastic “live” concert film and then announced a new edition in the Bootleg Series (the second BS release this year). Bruce announces a vanity book that will soon be on the bargain table at Barnes and Noble and a concert film that could / should have been released decades ago. I feel like he’s been working on Tracks 2 longer than it took to build the Great Pyramids. Is there anyone at Bruce Inc. who is tapped into what his fanbase really wants, can make a decision, or has even heard of coffee to help snap out of their apparent lethargic bubble?
Quick OT detour. A girl I used to date in the 80s opened up a “gift shop” right on our Main Street. It’s been there for 30 years and it’s been quite successful. They sell all kinds of junky stuff. Scented candles, picture frames, “this way to the beach” signs, that kind of stuff. She is well aware of her product line, and we joke about it. The last time I was wandering around, I said “who the hell buys this stuff?” She took me aside and said “Bob, you wouldn’t believe the crap people buy”.
Haha I don't know if the story is real, but it sure sounds like something that may have happened on Bruce Inc
I guess they figure No Nukes is the quickest way to get product out to the market. Zimny does all the work. All Bruce has to do is watch it once and approve it.
They almost have to do a BITUSA box at some point. It's potentially the biggest boxset sales wise of any of his albums. The longer they wait though, those sales could diminish.
That's how I feel about the merch at Bruce's concerts. There's a thread now on BTX, with a pic, of merch from the 2016 River tour.
....and From My Home To Yours - that really seems to have gone under the radar. Almost like everyone’s decided enough’s enough.
Is nobody excited about 1979 live concert video? I’d be on this faster than another audio only download.
I'm glad it's being released and I'm sure I'll enjoy it. But it seems too little, too late somehow. Why not both shows (sans the Lym part of course) since fans buying it would want that anyway? Especially since the NUGS download has been pulled.
That's sure what it sounds like from the press release. They don't say anything like "the two complete shows." I'd be shocked if it's not a compilation from both nights.
It is great to see some vintage, archival Springsteen footage being restored and released. That said, while I welcome such a release in principle, I rarely have time to watch concert DVDs, in fact, I can't remember the last time I did, so I am indifferent to this release in that respect. I would much rather have seen an archival release of audio material.
I’ve probably watched Hammersmith 4 or 5 times. Tempe probably 7 or 8 times. Houston only once. I’ll watch No Nukes a few times Im sure. It’s nice to have to pop in once in a blue moon. All they have to do is put one of those blue dots over Lynn’s face. Like they did in Borat.
Good call. Springsteen calling himself “renegade” reminds me of when George Costanza wanted to call himself “T-Bone”.
Didn’t Bruce write that he drove without a license? He could have done Hard Time AND Community Service!
