Cool...do you play with them in Vinyl? I'm friends with Harry, got him a gig at a place I play in Bradley Beach.
Yes vinyl and harmony project. Harry is as nice a guy as you’ll find. And Joel pound for pound may be more talented than Springsteen. For real.
They just said Bruce was great. Just a single guy, looking for fun that summer. Showed up almost every Sunday night. They also think he was auditioning Bobby Bandiera as a possible replacement for Steven. According to them it came close to happening.
Yes I had heard that, too. Obviously Nils is a great guitarist but I have never cared for his high voice. Both he and Patti don't add much good to the songs in general when you can hear them imo.
Well Nils has a much better voice than Steve, but Bruce has never really allowed him to sing very much anyway
I'd rather hear Steve any day, as it fits most of Bruce's songs. Hearing Nils on Darlington County when he takes a line, weak, reedy.
And rarely even lets him cut loose on guitar…last one I saw him really rip it up on was because the Night maybe 2012?
Big Nils fan here. He’s always been underused in the reformed band when it comes to spotlight moments, but he also acts as a secondary band leader, I’ve witnessed many moments over the years where he kept a song from completely going off the rails. Nils has an incredible voice, but it just doesn’t blend with Bruce’s the way that Steve does. I do love Nils’ vocals on live versions of Atlantic City, to me they are part of what makes the band performances of that song so powerful and haunting. Pull out the debut Crazy Horse album and listen to Nils harmonize with Danny on “I Don’t Wanna Talk About It”. Deadly.
Yes pretty well aware. My description is of him really being let off the leash, a fairly rare occurrence with ESB
I have a feeling B is going to have a 2012-style big band for this tour. Horns, singers, percussion etc. That seems to be the trend for these big ticket legacy shows: lots of hands on deck. He can certainly afford it.
Worse, he probably feels he "owes" it to his fans who weren't afraid to spend their hard earned money on his show. He may even be under some delusion that having a Big Band on stage could help justify the higher ticket prices.
is your #10 the duet with Southside that was included on which boot was that? if so, that would be my #1 cover: his vocals were great
Steven included "Tucson Train" in his set on his own tour, so I imagine he would like to play it with Bruce.
I would say the final 1977 Boston Music Hall show is the definitive version. But yes, he did it with Southside New Years Eve 77.
or because the 3 hr shows may be too much on the 70 +band members. but if more boots on the ground means less $ for the band members they will find a way to suck it up.
I have the New Years version on a purple vinyl 45 with the 1973 studio recording of The Fever on the flip
