When I was there, I was buying mostly new CDs as the exchange rates were much better and you can get a lot of catalog titles there for about 8 euros...places like Saturn in Alexanderplatz or World Of Music around the corner from the Ku'damm. There was a used place for CD and vinyl on the Ku'damm, just next to the plaza with the Kaiser Wilhelm Gedaechtniskirche (the bombed out church) in west Berlin. There weren't many good used places - I had the problem that there were a lot of specialist stores that had used, but most were for techno or house, etc, in the hippest parts of town (Prenzlauer Berg, Friedrichshain).

    GabeG,

Poweragemk is right. Not a lot to recommend. :( But here are a few:

    2x2,
    CDs: Pestalozzistraße 33
Vinyl: Wilmersdorferstraße 60 / near Subway Station Wilmersdorfer Straße (both stores)

Comeback Records, Hasenheide 9, near Subway Station "Hermannplatz"

da capo, Kastanienallee 96, 10435 Berlin (Prenzlauer berg)

    It's called Cover Music.
On saturday and sunday there is always a very big flea market on the "Strasse des 17. Juni" with some good CD sellers.
I'd recommend the above mentioned Comeback in Neukölln/Hasenheide too for second hand. And maybe the Logo in Bergmannstraße. If you have further questions, feel free to write a PM!

When I was there in January, 2002 there was a shop on the west side of the Friedrichstrasse, north of the Spree right around where the Oranienburgerstrasse intersects. Can't remember the name. They had some used CD's and an interesting selection of bootlegs (Beatles Yellow Dog and the like). Ditto on the weekend flea market at the west end of the Tiergarten. I found a few aluminum MoFi's and a DCC of Elvis's 24 Karat Hits for $16.

Berlin's a fascinating city, especially if you're into 20th century history. Check out the House at Checkpoint Charlie museum. Have fun!

    Cheers,
    Mike

Berlin is a great city, I love it. I went there last July and I can´t wait to go back. I wanted to know good used cd stores then. With Saturn you can´t go wrong, the same with L&P Musics in EuropaCenter. They have a very good service. I bought the Limited Edition of Forty Licks there and It came failed, the Cd where glued in the surface and I didn´t open it until I arrive to Santiago, then I realized that they where failed, and they send me another Forty Licks cd to my house for free.
I bought my Dual 604 and some vinyls in a flea market. Near Turmstrasse, you can find great places to find vinyl for like 20cent each.
