Can you recommend some audiophile great sounding blues albums?

    I don't know if I got a bad pressing, but the JB Lenoir I just receieved on Pure Pleasure sounds like crap. Distorted all the way through. I hope I can send it back since I spent $35 on it!

    That being said, it is a great album but I will stick to my CD of it.

    I don't know if anything of hers is still available, but it's hard to believe we are 5 pages in and no one has mentioned Alberta Hunter.

    Bringing this thread back to life.

    Robert Ludwig cut most of Paul Butterfield Blues Band vinyl and it's all superb. Great staging and stupendous bass extension. Cheap too.

    and just stumbled into this gem,,,,,Tim Williams, Blues Full Circle....excellent mastering on this....great tunes....one of those dics where you go, WOW, I am going to listen to that a lot!

    Doug MacLeod's There's a Time on Reference Recordings 45 RPM vinyl is absolutely stunning.
